2013 E350 Coupe
2013 E350 Coupe - Scanner/programming recommendations

In my effort to diagnosis and rebuild my upper engine, I have a few questions re: scanners and programming units.

As I'm just a weekend mechanic (and that is being generous), I have been using the BlueDriver Pro OBDII Scan Tool (bluetooth to iPhone) and the 2020 WIS/ASRA.

With the recent repairs, I've been reading some other OBD scanners render specific Mercedes Benz codes that other scanners do not and can analyze fuel trims, ratios, etc (my unit can do rudimentary positive vs negative trims but I've not had luck getting it to work reliably), as well as program new components (specifically, fuel injectors). I'm aware of Autel and CarDAQ+3 but this is cost-prohibitive and likely overkill for my purposes. I do not intend to use this except intermittently to diagnosis and repair my own vehicle (I do anticipate buying German/Italian in the future, as well).

What current recommendations does the group have?

Obviously, the best is to get XENTRY though.

For iCarSoft MB, I see there is a V2 (2025) and V3 (2025). Recommendation of one over the other?

I downloaded Xentry 2020 but do not have certain other necessary info to get it to work...

SIMPLICITY vs. IN-DEPTH

I think you find yourself in-between... the engine repair you're doing requires Xentry for the necessary documentation.

The flip side is working with Xentry takes advanced skills... to help breach the gap a $150 Launch scanner can provide fault reports plus a bit of limited coding with simplicity.

Both tools are complementary.

nope you need something else for that. Although it could do variant coding like these: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ii-reader.html

When you say I need Xcentry for necessary documentation, that's the same at WIS right? I now have WIS 2020 installed and running after our previous conversation in the other thread. Or is there something more that Xcentry provides in this regard?

I picked up the new 2025 Launch X431 Elite 2.0 for Benz on AliExpress for $100 (Amazon was $189). Hopefully, it's the real deal.

It is good to have three things with MB: XENTRY, MBEPC and WIS.

Do you see a banner on the top of mbworld, Peter can get you the full suite for a cost.

212 E Coupe is actually a C 207 not a 212

The Coupe is a C, not an E.
It's not a 212; it's a 207.

Peter = @BenzNinja

XENTRY is usually bundled with WIS/ASRA and EPC. It is the same scanner used in the Mercedes Star Diagnosis System (SDS) and is the ultimate scan tool for Mercedes. However, it is too cumbersome to keep in your car. For that, I recommend the LAUNCH Creader (X431) Elite 2.0 BENZ. The iCarsoft is no longer my first choice, though I do have it, as well as, LAUNCH, Autel, XENTRY, and BlueDriver that I have collected over the years. Carly will cost you about $100 per year for the subscription; it will not even work without an active subscription.

@JettaRed Have you used Launch X431 to reprogram fuel injectors? That's the main reason I bought it, as well as my ongoing nightmare with my camshaft timing in my other thread. Any help/advice on that topic would be great. :-)

I have not. Never had a reason to. It may work, but I also have a BenzNinja Club membership and would have Peter code anything that I cannot easily do with the tools I have. He uses XENTRY on-line (I guess) and other engineering tools for things XENTRY doesn't do. Remember, XENTRY is a service technician tool and not a programming tool, though I think you can make configuration changes when connected on-line.

M276 fuel injector type, it is not about programming for a new injector, it is only data input for injector quantity compensation coding
https://oregonfuelinjection.com/inje...-codes-or-iqa/

No injectors are 100% the same liters per hour output. So there will be those 7 or so digits* to enter ( *compensation code ) and the baby Launch can do it if I remember correctly.

I'm assuming it is the 5 digit code seen on the side and the top of the fuel injector...3737Z (it's faded).

Supposedly Xentry will show where to find the number.
