Emissions update

Apparently my cars dpf.system is.all new. Does this means it's had the recall? I want to reverse it the ecu update as well, as it'll get better mpg. Any idea on how to do that?

You might be able to get it reversed by a third party coder, one of such coders has a banner on top of mbworld, send him an inquiry on what you want to do.

You can't miss it, it is a banner with coding services on the top of the forums, if you don't see it when logged in, try logging out.

If I understand you correctly, you wanted to reverse to a previous software version right, downgrade? If so, you could try contacting him and see if it is possible, the dealership will not downgrade that I know for sure.

You can downgrade with a 20$ Openport interface, no need any expensive Chinese clones. Very easy job, but the car will drive badly....

Also, if you paying a little less attention to the mpg and if you try a correct maintenance - good air filter and correct settings with at least the same cheap interface you will notice very soon that the new software is quite genial.

The old tractor engine became so smooth after the update, so maybe because you'd love the sound and almost constant torque, the mpg will be higher...but not because of the update.

Because of the lack of smoothness of the upgrade

So they did some tuning with the software hence why it made the car smoother?

Before they use the VW/BMW style with all torque on 1200-1600rpm and aggressive lockup clutch, now they make more room for maximum torque as they let the clutch slipping a little bit more so little bit higher rpm feels more smooth - without low rpm tractor vibration - maybe this will add some mpg, but the results is quite fantastic, less NOx because higher rpm with more diesel, less vibrations, more torque over higher rpm, as a MB engine should behave

Try a drive test with an old w204 diesel, you would love the torque but you'll always choose your low torque gasoline as is more smooth

So does the newer updates improve the smoothness of these diesels by chance hence why if you downgrade it is going to be less smooth was my question, again sorry for the confusion.

The answer is in your question, new update more smoothness means that the old update is not the new update....so no the new update smoothness is not present in old configuration, where the torque is very high on low rpm.....and so on

Ive been working off of this.

How do I get 30 mpg in the city? Sometimes it's 26 and that isnt why i bought the car. Does the emissions update have anything to do with this at all?

I was thinking European, please accept my apologies.
I mean that the new update could decrease the mpg, we here use liters/100km and I was confused.
