Severed trunk wiring....AGAIN

I repaired my cut wiring on the right hand side of the trunk arm last year and now it is broken again. I did the repair again last night and added reinforcements and thinking it is not enough. I know this was a common issue with the e-class and I want to know what you guys did to permanently solve this problem?

Sorry to read about your harness going bad?

How many mines fo you have?

His often do you use trunk open/close ?

Can you extend the short cables so they don't strain and twist on you..

common problem?
Common to whom?
not me - First time I am reading about it....

I suggest adding length to your wires during repair.
As most wire failures happen when they get pulled and do no have enough slack
Or bend back and forth a lot and at large angle

TRUNK LID HARNESS

some factory camera style (RFK) send CAN-B twisted-pair all the way to licence plate area. Its the bus in charge of "drain-by-parking".
Handle your "Brown-Red" pairs nicely without short circuits!!

I open and close the trunk maybe 5 times everyday. If this one fails again I will extend it. From what I can see it is the flexing that makes it break over time. If I will extend these wires I will need to know what gauge to use. Guessing either 22 or 20 gauge. I used industrial hot glue vs shrink wrap on the previous repairs to stiffen those wires and it started to break again just above where I did the previous repairs.

After the fix

My symptoms of having severed wires is my license lamps begins to flicker.

Yes it is apparently a common issue on W211 early W212, C207 and CLS. If you do a search online you will see a lot of folks having the exact same issue. Maybe MB fixed this on facelift cars but if you get the same problem you will know what it might be.
