Determining proper parts on MBparts.com

I'm trying to track down a front license plate holder for our 2011 e350 Wagon with the AMG sport styling package, code 772.

Does anybody know how to make one of the online parts houses pick the part my car car with?

Even if I use our VIN when I do a search I get 4-5 options, and the descriptions don't list which is for normal or sport bumper.

I also have the MB parts software but have never figured out how to look up part numbers, if that would be easier.

I'm hoping to find a good used one, and not pay MB $150 for a new one.

Thanks!

Try this EPC site, input VIN and it will take you to your car

If you dont have the holes already in the bumper for the bracket, Id recommend Slybrackets. Ive used these for about 8 years, no problem.

For vin, usually when options are listed, it will also show what option code the cars should or should not have on their data sheet.

If you look at your front bumper, there should be two or four indents for screws, determine which you have and I'll send you the part number for the correct one as I have both plate brackets in the basement.

Rather than drilling holes in my plastic bumper, I chose to use the tow hook mount.

If you have four...I think I have mine in the garage (I got a new storage unit and saw it...I think). If so...you can have it.

I used this type before I did sly brackets but if you happen to drive into an area and someone wants your license plate, all they have to do is unscrew it by twisting the plate around, no tools needed. I had my plate stolen this way….

The model I linked also allows the tag to be placed in the center of the vehicle instead of off to the side and perhaps at an angle, depending on where the tow hook is located.

The Slybrackets are an excellent choice. I paid about $20 for this bracket. My State sells replacement plates for about $10.

I did have it....I was looking for it. She threw it away last week after I said, "jeesh, this is trash - this will never, not ever go onto either of the cars."

ha, been there. No worries, I appreciate the offer and should have asked first.

I sold a new PS pump for a Subaru Outback I had kicking around. 3 months later we bought one for my kid. And of course the PS pump was shot. Oh well!

Thanks for the offer! I found what I think is the right version used on eBay and pulled the trigger. It wasn’t too expensive and I just want to get this finished.

I will check those out. For this car I’m fine with a plate mount. It has other bumps and bruises a d will never be a show car. But in the future if I get another car where I don’t want to mount the plate on the bumper I will check those out.

I like to use those tamper proof button screws. Basically a Torx with a button in the center so you need the special Torx bit to loosen. I think it's an M6x12mm which you can get on eBay.
