I paid for diagnostic $182 bux but they can't pinpoint the leak. It's replace the water pump $1450 bux. I think the leak is water pump inlet tube 2762000156, it's plastic and from my research prone to crack overtime. Anyone replaced just this piece?

I have replaced all of the plastics and rubber hose of my car/engine entire cooling system, including thermostat set and radiator and engine oil cooler too.
Here Part 1 : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...m-refresh.html
I replaced a lot of things, to keep my car like new.
If I show you more of what I have replaced, you may faint.
Target is to keep it to at least to its 20th Bday.
Now it is 12th year old......... very low mileage my car, only 44,000KM max today.
But plastic and rubber MUST and WILL age overtime. No escape.
MB choosen rubber hoses are not bad, many are Kevlar re-inforced..... the plastics I worry more.
craigslist sale, replace the one part, the single tire, opt. for the cheapest battery, the cheapest fluids and glue or tape that loose molding back on.
keeping the car, replace everything within reason to keep it on the road and reliable.
just had the same issue with my '22 GLE. turns out the o ring on the water pump inlet tube had worn out, causing the leak. pretty easy fix if you're comfortable with some basic plumbing skills, but if not, it's probably worth sending it back to mercedes.
