Dynamic Seat Compatibility

Hello world!

I have a 2010 E550 with the dynamic seat package. Recently, I’ve noticed a leak in one of the bladders. I do use the feature pretty often so it kind of irked me. I started searching around junkyards for a seat with the same color and feature and it’s pretty hard to come by. With that, I was able to find a 2014 e550 with the same feature and same color seat. I do understand it’s the facelift model, but would the seats be compatible to swap into my 2010? Any input would be appreciated. It’s about a 3 hour drive away (I know for a seat is crazy) and I don’t want to waste a trip to find out connectors are different or maybe programming is different, whatever the case may be. Thank you!

you don’t need a new seat you just need to buy and replace the bladders. Nothing will ensure that the new seat doesn’t have a leak as well.

The process looks complicated to replace the bladders in the seat. The seat also has 200k miles on it as well. Figured it would be a win win to get a seat in nicer condition if I could find one. But yes you’re absolutely right, nothing will guarantee the new one doesn’t have a leak as well. I just don’t know which direction to turn to!

El asiento te vale perfectamente, sustituye el modulo que esta debajo del asiento por el tuyo y a funcionar, si el precio es bueno siempre tener recambio es buena cosa. suerte

I have a leak problem with my seats on both cars, 2020 E550 and 2012 S550 and it is not the bladders, it is the plastic tubing that dry-rots and fails. I have been able to fix some of this but I know at some point i need to take the seat out and replace all tubing.

I would not think it is all that bad of a job after the seat is out from the car.

I've got the active seat as well. I really like it. The scanner tells me it has a leak, so I need to do something about it. Haven't had time to give it a second's thought. If either of you guys end up doing anything, please take lots of photos! I'll do the same if I get to it before you do.

You definitely could be right about the plastic tubing. Are they easy to swap out? Do you per chance have a part number or did you do something else to repair them?

Quite easy - I have a few posts with images of swapping them out in the GLS and the E63S

Unless the leather is torn or in a condition you can’t remediate, then I would just fix what you have. otherwise, when you get the new seat, I would rip it apart and check the bladders. I’ve never had any leaking tubes, but I have had bladders that leak at the seams. I’ve tried just about every repair possible for the bladders and nothing will hold. Buy them while they’re available….

As mentioned, it’s pretty easy. Everything in the seatbacks can slide in and out without much disassembly. You don’t have to remove the hole lumbar assembly, you are able to slide the bladders in with some manipulation. Even replacing leather isn’t very difficult.
