Beautiful - Mercedes is back to making beautiful cars. W/S212 was ugly from day one. Awkward jutting out front, ugly rear lights. Disjointed design. With the replacement of the GLK and now the E ugly streak has been eradicated.
This change could not come soon enough - the W212 is the ugliest middle-class Mercedes of all times, and will go down in history as such. I am guessing that selling the W212 over the last 2 years has been somewhat of an embarrassment for Mercedes.

I'm head over heels in love with it, and the fact that Mercedes finally brought a 4 cylinder over is perfect for what I want.
My car is in warranty for 2 more months... this might finally be the car that makes me give up my W204.

I'll keep my wagon, and buy this as a second car - but only if they offer the comfort suspension setup and not the ridiculous "sport" set-up - yes, it is really sporty to drive over all those potholed roads in Canada.
Finally, Mercedes is designing cars that will be timeless. The headlights of this car look somewhat like the W124 - large and more square. The double headlamps gimmick is over for good

The warranty on my 2012 ML350 is up in June and this E class just might do the trick because I really don't need an SUV. But then I look at the new (and beautiful!) aluminum Jaguar XF with a supercharger doing 380 horses with five years full warranty and all included maintenance and wear items and I say to myself THIS is the car I want to drive.
But then Volvo announces the safest, most tech advanced sedan of all time, the S90, with an interior to die for and I say to myself that I have to have my butt in THOSE seats! Then Lincoln has the audacity to come out with a 400 hp/400 lb-ft torque MXZ with an equally beautiful interior (those in the Black Label Edition) and I say to myself THIS car will be a ball to drive and I can save thousands over the other brands!! That torque is in the Lambo Spyder range and the styling reminds me a lot of the Jag = very nice! Not to mention the new Lincoln Continental that might be the most comfortable American saloon of all time. And don't even tempt me with the new G90 from Hyundai which they say nearly competes with the S class at half the price!! How does one choose?

Any one is knows anything about the brand will know that Mercedes always made cars that looked alike - it is called branding. You should be able to recognize a brand by the look.
Those who are concerned that a C looks like an E or an E like an S clearly do not understand that the point of buying an S over an E over a C is about the driving comfort and luxury and not to "brag" or "show-off" their status.

Other than that, agree. The new E looks like it's on the money.

Yikes! Have some respect for the 212 guys on their home forum. Obviously the 212 styling was polarizing but the guys clearly like the looks and voted with their wallets. At least wait until the board adds a 213 forum to crap on the 212.

Given that I read again and again people complaining bitterly about the facelifted W212 (MOPF 212 in Daimler jargon) and now about the W213, I think I am entitled to *also* express my own opinions.

The 221 got a facelift as well, but the changes were subtle. Both versions look good, although the facelift cars are a little more desirable.
You guys hated the facelift on the 212?

Liking or disliking something is subjective. Back on topic please, rather than question my motives.

^whoah hey easy there bugsy. Dont forget that you layed out your emotions on your first post in this thread about how youre so disgussed with the W212 design.
This is the W212 section of the forum so about 90% of people here owns/owned one. Telling us that our cars are butt ugly is not something some peole would take lightly ESPECIALLY if you yourself owns one. (weird is an understatement if you ask me)
Not questioning your motives, maybe just your ability to make decisions about choosing cars. Take it easy now.

Did you just point in the general direction of a Mercedes dealership and say, "I'll take one of those ones with the star on it."
Might have made more sense to say that while you liked owning and driving a 212 you were never bowled over by the styling, and you like the 213's styling a great deal more.

So where was your contempt for the 212's styling when you were, you know, um, what's the word, um...buying one?

Just so you know the W221 forum has been a little slow since you have been over here. Gonna hate to lose your wit and wisdom if you move to a W213.

Not to worry. The 213 is a good ways off and I'm still not sure I want the first year, or the T4. I also just read somewhere that the full glass dash may not be offered in the U.S. to start. I have until Nov 2016 to replace the 221.
But I have enjoyed meeting new victims/friends in the other boards. I've had S Classes for so long that I never venture into the E or C forums. Apparently they're totally willing to put up with me, and they're as passionate about their cars as we are. I wonder if the 221 board would be as welcoming to them. Probably not. We're total dicks.
Eventually the 221 forum will devolve into the mess of issue and failure threads that the 220 has become. It's inevitable.

Well the W213 exterior has been fully revealed in pics. Here is the link: http://www.carscoops.com/2016/01/201...icial.html?m=1
What's your opinion on the exterior?

Takes away the identity of the E-Klasse. Looks like a C class or an S class, just the size varies.

Wife drove a 2016 diesel today and wasn't wowed by it, which was surprising because she thought she had made a decision before stepping into the dealership.
I wasn't aware the E was due for a new model. Glad I checked here. TBH, the interior was a disappointing, which was also the wife's big letdown. Looks like they stepped it up with the 213.

I think the personality and function of each car is enough to distinguish it from the others. They look like they were all made by the same company. My kids all kind of look alike too.
I do agree that when you see one coming you have to wait until it's close enough to see the few distinguishing features. I'm not sure how that has any effect on the lucky guy whose driving it.
