W213 Engines Choices in US
Any news/updates on engine choices for US market?
I read somewhere that e550 will return. That would be great, but I don't think it is going to happen.

My guess from the info released today about Mercedes-AMG:
Mercedes Benz C300 - 2.0L T4
Mercedes-AMG C45 - 3.0L T6
AMG C63 - 4.0L T8
But that's just my guess...

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
Last summer Mercedes said they were developing an inline 6 with 4 turbos and over 400hp. I don't know what happened to that, but I think they need it.
The Cadillac CTS V-Sport already offers a 400hp V6 and Mercedes showing up with 368hp in a V not inline would be disappointing from a brand that claims to represent the best or nothing.

With the X43 AMG name designation that is replacing the 450 AMG Sport models it is likely the E550 will be turned into the E43 and will be powered by I6 turbo/hybrid. At NAIAS MB refused to answer any questions regarding the powertrain line up except for the I4 and the I4 Diesel variant maybe the I6s will be here sooner than we thought.

Most likely no E250 diesel until MY2018. For North America, MB has never introduced a diesel variant during the first model year of a new generation E Class.
Both C300d and S300d (wagon) will be coming as MY2016 for Canada in 2nd quarter of this year.
Same engine as current E250BT, but numerical designation has changed and horsepower has increased from 195 to 200 HP.

Give me 6 cylinders with two turbos please. And a loud exhaust. Hold the batteries.

Might be a combination of all 3. Battery is great for instant torque though, have you driven a Tesla? The amount of torque off the line is incredible.

Exactly the same emissions standards for both US & Canada. US market is supposed to get C250 sedan diesel in 2016. Model availability sometimes varies between the two markets, e.g. W212 E550 was still available in Canada for MY2016.

The E43 will be with an new I6 with at least 400hp. E400 is nothing but the same engine in today's E400 which is why MB is only confirming so far that the I4 E300 is the first E coming here. The details on the I6 will be released in late spring or early summer.

E450 V6
Not a chance. Whoever said they saw that doesn't know what an I6 engine looks like.

"Later on, we'll have the bigger engines," said Michael Kelz, chief engineer for the E class.
The E450, powered by a V-6 engine, will follow, Kelz said, but its U.S. on-sale date is undetermined. Plug-in hybrid, diesel and AMG performance versions also are expected. The diesel and plug-in hybrid models will go on sale in Europe, but not in the U.S., this calendar year, Kelz said. Wagon, coupe and convertible body styles also are planned.

The redesigned 2017 E class will go on sale in the U.S. early this summer with the E300 as the debut model. It has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 241 hp. It will be the first four-cylinder gasoline E class sold in the U.S.
"Later on, we'll have the bigger engines," said Michael Kelz, chief engineer for the E class.

245 hp is not going to cut it. No way. That is why the e400 will be the new e550 that everybody wanted but didn't want to pay for. So they lowered the entry point with four bangers turbos like BMW did. So you know that 333 hp six cylinder I'm excited for and 9 speed but not going like that price increase that will push the monthly payments higher than what we all or I mean some have become accustomed too over the years with my past 3 e classes. I'm awaiting the arrival with anticipation.
