Never driven a Lexus ES but that thing looks odd and probably the ugliest car in the company's line-up tbh. Those I see drive the ES are waaaayyyy above their 30s anyways so it doesn't fit your age criteria. But what do i know? I'm a 23yr old with strong opinions.

I'm an older guy who has had MB years ago, then 20 years of Lexus, and now back to MB.

My take is that with the Lexus, you feel as if you are riding in the car; with the MB you feel like you are driving it. The MB is much more engaging.

On the other hand, you probably know that the MB, or any European car, will not be a trouble-free car. The Lexus probably will be trouble-free. I drove my last Lexus about 140K miles, with only minimal repairs. I do not expect that with my E-Class.

So, if you plan to keep the car to very high mileage (or out of warranty), or if your wife goes berserk any time something goes wrong with her car, the MB may not be best for her.

Don't get me wrong -- I much prefer the MB over the Lexus. It is just a highly complicated and refined automobile, so things will go wrong. As long as the dealer service experience is good, I'm happy.

Thanks for your input. Im planning to keep the car forever. I personally like the E-class more than Lexus. Probably gonna go with MB. Do you think that current E-class design will hold up overtime. Is it will look dated in 2-3 more years?

I have MB and Lexus. The E-Class Sedan is refreshed for this upcoming model year which would be my recommendation if you can wait. Lexus definitely changes design more frequently but the MB always has a look that holds up more than most cars over time. If you are looking at an E-class MB, you should be comparing to a Lexus GS and not the Lexus ES. I would suggest the E-Class MB for your wife as it is more timeless and classy in my opinion.

WTF NOBODY bothered to tell the POOR GUY(in the W213 forums no less) that a whole new generation of E class will be released very shortly?!?!!?

The exterior on his car will be outdated and interior MASSIVELY inferior in a couple of months!

Poor guy didnt lease the car either.

I hope he received some steep discounts.

Taimb, I am sorry to inform you that the car that you are to "keep forever" is a going out model(W212). The new generation(one that comes every 7 years) W213 will be release very soon. People will always argue on car forums "well I liked the look of the previous generation better" but in the end the older model on the streets will always look more dated.

reposado - It is entirely possible that Taimb just likes the W212. If one plans to keep a car for a long time, then the fact that another model comes out is less meaningful than it would be if they planned to keep it only a short time.

I also knew that the W213 was on the way, but I actually LIKE the W212. There is no accounting for taste.

If he knows the new gen is released soon then its all good. From this statement "Her birthday coming up in 2 days. i forgot There is no time for test drive or think. Just know she likes the car very much." He didnt give much indication that he was aware since its obviously a last minute not well researched purchase.

Look up post #5. Clearly mentioned but you didn't see that.
Besides how is he going to surprise his wife tomorrow with a brand new W213? A photo??? Girls like surprises, and especially a new Mercedes in flesh. You can always trade up to a newer model if you want to.
Taimb, you really made the right decision about the car. We're sure you wife will love the surprise. I wish we all could do the same surprise for our wives. You're the lucky one. I would have done more research about the car before buying, but apparently it is a done deal now. Congratulations. Post some pictures of the car please.

I read somewhere that the W213 will not enter production until March 2016. And it's been widely reported that it will go on sale in the US in the summer.

Yes. Production will start in March, and they will arrive at dealers for sales kick-off in the summer.

That's what I've read.

Thank You. But i already know that the new one is coming out soon. I am very disappointed that it will be an bigger C- Class, very similar, no distinction ( My opinion guys). I want something different, something people can tell that is an E- Class. Bought the car for 2 days and it is great, beautiful car.

Thank You. She likes it very much. I traded my CLA 250 for it. No regret here.

Personally, I think you've made a great choice. I really like my W212, and I'm unsure if I would like the W213. I'm also unsure how much more the same vehicle would cost in 2017, and (for me) I also don't know when the higher powered models (equivalent to the W212 E400) will become available.

The other thing I would be concerned about is that the 2017 W213 is a first-year car for the model. If the new C-Class is any indication, look out

Thanks for your support. 2017 mercedes e class look amazing too. Refine interior. However, it really look like the current C-class, just a little bit longer. But you know, it depends on the beholder.

Buy her Tiffany ring tomorrow. And promise a car in 3 months. I did it for my wife too. She was expecting W213 as a gift, but unfortunately it will be available in March only.
E class is a women car. It is perfect gift for a woman 28+. it is very reliable. So far wife never had any problem with it. When she drove Lexus (including ES) she couldn't stop complaining.
Say happy birthday to wife.
