Launch date on the web?

E300 RWD starts at 52,150, so 53k with delivery cost.
P1 is 3,400, but if you want all the tech (cool driver assist tech that you ve seen on reviews), you ll need to opt for P3, which is 10,250. LED instrument cluster appears to be extra 1,000. Sport wheel package is 650. I assume standard is MB Tex so nappa leather is probably 1,200 extra.
So if you get a car with leather, sport wheel and P3, that's about 66k. I am sure there are options that I missed. Anyways, this is a pretty damn expensive 4-banger...

OK, assuming 4matic, and if you add the packages in my above post, then add metallic paint, you are already pretty much at 70k... to get to this test car, which also probably has better seats (cooled and massaged?) and more expensive interior trim, you are going 70+k.
Base Model S has superior tech and VASTLY superior driving dynamics compared to this 4-banger at an effectively similar price range... I can actually browse my phone and check instagram clicking likes etc while on my commute! I just don't see why I would ever buy this E vs Model S...
<60k, maybe; getting close to 70k, no way. I guess maybe there will be big discounts not long after release?

The interior's nice, but man Benz needs to get it together.
The current C has a nice exterior, and an awful interior instrument cluster and nav. Worthless touch pad and unattractive iPad screen.
The new E has a nice but C-like exterior, and an awesome dash/instrument screen.
I'm hopeful that they will remedy both in the C and E refresh. Hopefully they will put the nicer E-style dash screen in the C, and hopefully they will make the E look a little bit more distinctive on the outside.

The Tesla has **** poor fit and finish and having to stop and wait for a charge? NO thanks.

12.3" instrument cluster is $1,000 option charge and car MUST be equipped with P03 (or Q03) in order to get that screen.
Just got back from training and I will tell you that this car is WAY technologically advanced relative the rest of MB lines. Park Pilot works amazing (yes, you need cars or walls or bushes to bounce signal out of), but car will back into spot, pull forward into spot, parallel park, exit parking spots, etc. Biggest thing is that you need do NOTHING, not even shift from R to D because you get to close to a vehicle.
Exterior styling on the models are beginning to look so similar due to trying to have the lowest coefficient of drag possible. Europeans tested model was 0.23, one of the lowest of any vehicle, period. US spec cars expected to be only slightly higher because of bigger wheels.
For the price point, I really feel that it will be solid and some sales programs have been released. No LAP, but financing for 2.99% to 72 months and excellent residuals/rates considering new model.
Wholesale releases to dealers begin week of June 20 with availability for retail to begin shortly thereafter stretching into early July.
what still frustrates me is that the mb-tex top dash stitching is still only reserved for the luxury model. Doesn't make sense when the C class Sport package includes it. Now the more expensive brother looks inferior.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I assume it is now on the water.
QO3 (who needs the HUD anyway at $1100.? I wear polarized sun glasses all the time, can't even see it. It's all in the display anyway).
Selenite Grey/Black MTec
Instrument screen display
Sport wheel package.
Drove demo the other day. At my age, I'm ready for all the safety gadgets.

CARMEL, Calif. — A certification slowdown means Mercedes-Benz dealers will have to wait longer than expected to sell the redesigned 2017 E-class sedan.
In May, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Dietmar Exler said the 2017 E300 models would be on sale in June. But last week Exler told Automotive News that the vehicles are still awaiting regulatory approvals.
“We’re pushing and working very hard with the authorities to get certification. The cars are on U.S. soil,” Exler said at a press event here. “We hope we get certification quickly. The process is a little bit more difficult to predict than it was in the past. But feedback is good, and, hopefully, it will go fast.”

The cars were black, white, silver, Selenite gray and I think the new color - a very dark green metallic that looked almost black. I could not see it up close as it was on the upper level of the trailer.
The cars that were unloaded all had the P1 package and the list prices ranged from about $58,500 to about $62,750
I had serious concerns about a $60,000+ car with a 4 cylinder engine, but was pleasantly surprised when I drove it. I tried several of the driving modes and think I could easily live with this car.
I liked it much better than the 2016 E350 loaner I had last week while my coupe was being serviced.
I am now seriously considering a new 2017 E to replace my aging Lexus LS460.
While I love my Lexus, it will be 8 years old in August and my extended warranty has run out. A new LS460 equipped the same as mine lists for $84,000 and the model will finally be replaced either later this year or next year at the latest. The current LS body was introduced for 2007, so I do not want to buy a new expensive car whose looks will be outdated within a year or so.
Finally, I agree with the comments about the new E looking like the C. The white demo I drove was parked directly next to a white C-class. As I walked around both of them and compared them closely, they do look almost the same. However, the interiors are very different. I am 6' 4" tall and am not at all comfortable in the C, but fit well in the E.
I hope my comments help answer some of the questions raised in this post.
However, after driving the ‘17 and the ‘16 I ended up getting the 2016 E Class. In my admittedly novice opinion, the difference in acceleration and the “sturdiness” of the ‘16 were very noticeably different. I really like the ‘16, even if the body style is outdated already. I should add the caveat that I don’t play around with driving modes nor should my opinion be considered anything more than the experience of a rank novice at this stuff.
