W213 Produced, Code B7 at port for two weeks
My car was produced on 6/30, was invoiced on 7/14 and was at the port in Germany on 7/15 (code B7). I learned from the dealer today that there is a shipping block on approximately 3,000 vehicles, but he had no further information. The cars being held were E-Class, SLC, GLC, and a few other models. The dealer got this information from his rep at the distribution center so I presume that it is accurate. I've only seen a bulletin on the garage door opener needing to be reprogrammed by the dealer, but nothing else. I sure hope it's not an issue with the engine or the transmission! I gave it until this Friday for a release status. Otherwise, I told the dealer to reorder the car. I'm good with my current 2013 E550 so I'm not in a rush to have a rebuilt car.

The car is still in Germany with no ship assignment. I have not been given any additional information, but if it was only software flashing the car would have been sent to the VPC in GA and the correction done there. I think that it is something more serious to cause a stop shipment. I read another post from another person in this forum that stated that his car was landed in CA, but could not be delivered until a part for the radar could be delivered to correct a defect. This could be what is happening to my vehicle. My car should have shipped out by July 15 and would have arrived at the VPC in early August.
UPDATE: It's now three weeks and counting. Neither the dealer nor the MB Rep can determine when the car will be released. Sigh!!!!

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
Just what everyone wants in a brand new car: an engine that has been torn down to the crankshaft and then put back together. And, I'm assuming that this is not being done at the factory. I'd pass and place another order. Actually, I'd buy a CPO S550 for the same money and be way happier.

Well, I'm not certain whether the engine was actually torn down or just inspected by taking off the oil pan. In any event, the car is now on the Brasilia Highway and will arrive at the VPC in Brunswick on 9/15. The dealer will be going through the car in more detail than usual to determine that all is in order. MB has given me 1 lease payment and free 3-year/30,000 maintenance to make up for the delays. I'll just have to see if things are OK or not.

Well I don't think that the engine will fail immediately. There was a reason that the engines were being rebuilt the following week. I would be that there will be a TSB shortly on the issue.
