Where are the cup holders??????
I've got a 2017 E300 loaner and, as stupid as it seems, there are no cupholders. If you open the door where you would expect them to be there is just an open area with a flat bottom, and if you put a drink in there, beware, it will fall over around the first curve. I even went back to the dealer and asked where it was and was told, "that's it".
Stupid as it seems, for me, it would be a deal breaker.

I found a copy of the owners manual and I can't believe it, it says only use the cup holders when stationary or else it will spill - you've got to be kidding me.

There is a cup holder insert which holds two cups (almost the same as on my W212). The insert can be removed for cleaning or for allowing you to store something in the space. There is a removable rubber liner at the bottom of the opening. Perhaps the loaner car that you were driving had the insert removed. There are also two cup holders in the rear center armrest.
