Do you prefer the 2017 or 2016 model?

Hi everyone, having a hard time deciding if I should get the 2017 or 2016 model. I like the rear design of the 2016 model a lot. But the features and interior looks of the 2017 model is awesome. It's about time Mercedes update their command system since the ones in the 2016 model looks so outdated. But the interior of the 2016 model is amazing too. I hate how the 2017 model rear is so similar to the C class. So I really don't know. One advantage is now the 2017 has come out, the 2016 model will be a bit cheaper. It's still expensive but a tad cheaper. So which generation is your favorite and why?? Which one would you go with? Help me decide guys! Thank you!

And as important the 2016 has the v6 engine! No need to spend $75,000 or more for a better engine. The give up is the awesome interior of the 2017 as well as better technology. Either buy the e43 or wait for a 6 option. Body styling is a push IMO. Regards. Ned.

A 2016 model has depreciated a year before it is even sold.
The discount should be very good.

Depreciation according to NADA
Yr Amt
1 $19,705
2 $ 5,425
3 $ 4,225
4 $ 3,900

Wow, 18% off a 2016 E350 in Sept. of 2015? Is that right? Locally, that's what they "sell" remaining '16 E350s now (Fall of 2016) and "only" 15% off E400s.

E220d
I've recently swapped from a 2 year old w212 to a w213. I live in the UK so I've got the e220d diesel so can't comment much on the engine choices you have but as far as the cars go elsewhere the new model is superior in just about every way. Negatives first...I have a little less shoulder room in new one and A and B pillars are thicker so visibility is a little worse. Cabin rattles/squeaks already whereas old one felt bullet proof (w212 showing evidence of most expensive facelift ever). I also wasn't keen on the back end but have grown to love it now, looks far more modern in profile and the crystal rear lights are nice.

Now, positives of w213. Ride is better despite new one being on amg suspension and 19 inch rims compared to last one being on se suspension and 17 inch. Significantly better ride. Also handles vastly better, in sport or sort plus I can actually enjoy chucking it round a bend unlike the old boat. Not that's what a merc is bought for but nice to have the option. 9 speed gearbox is terrific with fest shifts on sport and rarely gets caught out. Old one, 7 speed, constantly got caught off guard and took seconds to change down.

Interior design and feel is fantastic and feels 2 or 3 generations better. UK spec is odd, it have to get amg with the fake artico leather to have the leather look dash top but paired with open pore black ash it looks fantastic. Love the brighter and more colourful interior lights (wife and daughter both in love with it).

New adaptive led lights are a thing of wonder and I never want to drive in the dark without them again. It's also like having your own light show and passangers gasp at the system in full swing.

Overall, the new car is leaps and bounds better in almost all ways but build still feels a little flimsy compared to the old one. But that's a trade I'm currently happy to make!

Here's my opinion to consider. For me, the reason not to go with the '16 was that it wasn't enough of a change from my '14, which I loved.
