Angry Anybody having issues with fueling?

Hello,

We have two 2017 E300 in the family, and we are having problems with fueling on BOTH vehicles. The pump constantly cuts off every 4-5 seconds and the only way I can continue filling is to put downward pressure on the nozzle. It's infuriating. I just want some gas. Take my money. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to fill up the tank.

I obviously tried different pumps at the same station, and had the same problem at other stations too.

Anybody experienced this? I know there is a recall on the fuel system cabling harness, but the fueling problem is mechanical problem. Grr. 98 miles on the odometer, and there is a recall.

I called the local dealer to schedule the recall service, and asked about this. The lady on the phone, and I am not kidding you, says "Those vehicles are designed to do that, you are using the pump is not compatible with your car."

My response - "Ok, I see. Thank you. I will just talk to the service advisor."

Try turning the nozzle upside down after you insert it.

Count me in...

Yes and it's driving me nuts! Works better at some stations than others. I can usually get it to work with a little finesse!

No issues either. 3400 miles and have fueled up across three states in the US. No problems at Mobil, Irving, and Shell gas stations if that's of any help.

I've had these issues with most of my cars - Porsche Cayman S, BMW M3, 535i. It's like I had to constantly fight for the correct "position". Twist it left, twist it right, don't insert too much, upside down, 90' degree, etc. (omg what am I talking about now... that sounds so.. weird). I ended up checking how many gallons I've filled to determine whether the tank is full.

Some gas stations are worse than others. Porsche dealer told me they had no issue at the 76. Back then I always filled at Chevron. So it's not really a defect but there's just no fix for it.

The c class has the same issue. Its due to the US unleaded fuel gas nozzle. Instead of making an adapter of a concentric design, the mercedes adapter forces the nozzle to the lower portion of the fuel pipe. This creates enough turbulence for the pump to shut off. 7The partial solution is simple, do not insert the nozzle all the way in. Insert it only enough so it doesnt fall out. This works most of the time.

I have the same problem almost every time I fill gas. It's infuriating to have to hold the nozzle down for so long while refueling. As other E300 owners mentioned on this forum, some stations are better than others. But 95% of the time, I fill from the same station near my house.

You can find a few more suggestions here...I still have the problem since starting the thread - But not as often, however.

As C4004matic also mentioned, not inserting the nozzle all the ay but still fully secure is the key. Works EVERY time now.
