First Recall on My E300
I received a letter from MBUSA today about a safety recall #2013100001.
The letter states: "On certain E-Class vehicles, under certain loading conditions, the rear bench seat frame could damage the wiring harness to the fuel control module. If the wiring harness is damaged, depending on the affected wire, it could affect the operation of the fuel pump, the fuel tank pressure sensor or the fuel gauge. Should the fuel pump fail, the fuel supply to the engine would stop and the engine could subsequently stall. Depending on the traffic situation, this could increase the risk of a crash."
The fix is for the dealer to reroute the wiring and, if necessary, repair any wiring damage - approximately a 30 minute job.
I called my dealer immediately and am scheduled for the repair at 8:00AM this Thursday. I do not have to drop off the vehicle, they will repair it while I wait.
