sos message on console
Just got our 2017 E300 and it seems to be a real improvement over our 2014 E350 and perhaps even quicker to 60.
The one problem we have, so far, is that the warning message, "sos is not ready" is lit in red on the center display. We do not want to fool with the mbrace system other than the standard portion. So far, I can't figure out how to turn that display off as it is irritating.
Anyone know how to turn it off?

SOS is part of the Safety and Secure package for which your vehicle has a free 6 month subscription. The activation takes a few days to transfer from the dealer acct to yours. Have you done your Welcome call with Mbrace? That's the first step.

Mbrace is setup and when I called in for my info call, they were not interested in talking to me unless I gave them a credit card which they would charge unless I cancelled in time. I had a very serious previous problem getting them to remove a charge that I did not authorize.
Given that 5 years of basic Mbrace is included with the car, there should have been no issue at all.
I find it hard to believe that I have to give them a credit card to turn off this error message.

I just took advantage of the trial period as well...and the credit card issue wasn't that big of a deal. I've gone that route numerous times with satellite radio and I just put a reminder in my phone to canx well in advance. The folks at Mbrace also said that they send out an email 2 months before the trial period is up. I'll be honest the small "SOS not ready" doesn't phase me at all...it sits between your phone bar strength and compass heading...I actually didn't notice it until I read this thread. In any event good luck...

The SA says I have to bring the car so that the service department can turn the warning off. Will do when I have another reason to bring it back, hopefully not until the A service a year from now.
Thanks for the help

Let us know. I called and activated the trial and they discounted the Secure price, so I bought 2 years as well. If I decide not to keep it, it would be nice to be able to turn off that message.
