Here are pics of the side window's structure. The s can be sandwich can be seen. Unlike regular safety glass, its thicker and the glass panes extend past the inner layer. Front and rear are the same.
its the 3 layer structure in the middle. You are looking at the top edge of the window pane. It looks weird because the middle later is so thick and not flush with the glass layers
Here's the mfr marking on the driver's side window on my car with the acoustic glass option and also a chart from the mfr's site showing their noise reduction claims.
In the US there are too many jurisdictions regulating transmittance levels and where tinting may be applied. Violations are very expensive for the driver of a non-compliant vehicle.

So factory tint isnt available even on the regular glass?
Some MB models have had a slight factory tint on the rear passenger side windows. I recall a few '90's decade S Class models that had a light blue tint. Here most tint is locally done through the dealer or an aftermarket provider.

Do you consider the acoustic glass is needed on an E300? We know it is vital on a C300 (It should be factory standard). Is the new E300 as a quiet as an older E350? Welcome comments?

Well, it all depends on how much you value a quiet cabin. To me, quietness is very high on the desirability chart. The quieter, the better. And, in the E300, with that noisy 4-banger clanking out there, ordering the acoustic glass would be a definite for me. I was walking to my car in a parking lot the other day and a new E300 idled by and it sounded like an old pick-up truck! I realize that at speed these noises disappear, but SHEESH! We will wait for the E400 before trading our 2016 E350.

Well I can tell you E400 at low speed is no better sounding. I have the new E400 sedan up here in Canada and I took delivery about a month ago. It's a fantastic car a great engine. But...2 flags keeping it from being a truly perfect car.
1. The engine at low speed sounds like a quieter version of a diesel Ford F-150
Almost embarrassing they could not quell some of that.
2. Run flats are a let down. Wish we had the option to swap for space saver and conventional tires. Run flats are clompy over bumps especially lower speed bumps unbefitting a Mercedes. (I have 18 inch AMG star wheels) Look sharp!
But the suspension tuning is perfect not floaty, not too stiff either which mitigates some of run flat harshness. (I don't have air springs which probably solve the problem completely except for road noise) As far as I can tell we have no option for acoustic glass so I assume my car does not have it. It's pretty quiet though on highway if not exceptionally so.
I call the tires acceptable but not ideal. Engine idle db and general sound needs improvement. My previous Audi A6 with a 3.0T supercharger was silkier and nearly silent. I miss that.
But power of twin turbo is very good, and great lag free torque (I rate power at 98% as good as my old supercharged engine lag at 95% as good between 0-55mph) and very reasonable fuel economy too.
I drove a 2017 Audi S4 with new turbo 3.0T replaces the supercharger and it was laggy as hell. The old Audi 3.0T supercharged was their best engine over the last decade. Too bad it's being replaced by an inferior turbo one.
I think the twin turbo is key for eliminating dreaded lag.
