Word from some of the insiders at MB-USA that a 400 sedan could be added as a MY18...therefore could be before the end of the year. It is the V6 twin turbo which they also have in Canada and I think in the USA E400 wagon.

Just curious if you've found out the answer about this?

In Canada we don't have it. I looked at my car and checked. Maybe it will come for the 18s.

Why would heat blocking be needed in such a cold place?

Umm, because Canada and Ontario get summer....?

As far as the acoustic glass not sure why we don't get it. Heck make it standard.
Actually I think with the V6, acoustic glass and airmatic the car is about perfect.

I think in Europe you can order any variant with all these features. But in US you can't yet have the E400, and in Canada we have no acoustic but we do have the E400.
Oh brother, well perhaps soon all bases will be covered. Still a great great car.

That would be so freaking awesome and totally disappointing at the same time since I already have an E300.

Let's not get too excited yet. The 2018 ordering guide shows nothing on a V6 TT engine. It will be absolutely insane if this is offered for 2018 after fooling so many into buying the E300.

Of course, I don't want to get too excited cause it's just a rumor now but if they do it would totally be insane. I would hope they would have a program to upgrade the E300s for buyers that would want a V6 TT engine.

Why would it be insane to offer an E400? They offer it everywhere else. The E300 will probably continue being the better seller. In Canada the E300 outsells the E400 by a wide margin. Price and fuel efficiency matter to many people plus at 240HP, the E300 is not a bad performer. It wasn't long ago that the NA E350 was was in that HP vicinity.

I think you are missing the point, of course the E400 can and should be offered in the US. I am willing to bet this is what most current E300 buyers would have preferred. Insanity would be MBUSA suddenly offering this one year after forcing the E300 down our throats under the guise of CAFE standards . As far as I know, nothing has changed on that front.
Nothing against the E300's performancell, but it would have been nice to have the option .

The '18 E300 I have on order is the first car with less than 300 hp that I've had in 20 years. Getting used to lower performance is a very steep learning curve especially when driving in congested traffic. (Is that 150' break in traffic adequate to merge or do I wait another 5 minutes for a bigger break?)

I'm not sure I understand the "insane" logic either. Other variants are typically offered and timing-wise how is this different than the E43 coming ~ 6 mos after the E300 and the E63 probably a year later? The E300 replaced the E350, and now the E400, if it comes, would replace the old E400...which I don't think was a big seller.

Porsche is the master of this kind of stuff with many flavors of every car coming out all the time.

I would assume the pricing would be near the level of the outgoing car and at least a hundred or so $ a month more expensive on a lease. MB's website has $569/mo for the E300 and $729/mo for the E400 4WD wagon so I as assume a sedan would be somewhere in between.

So it does seem as though this car will come with a significantly higher price tag. Is everyone willing to pay this??? We'll see. Should be a great car based on the feedback from our Canadian friends.

Okay I'll try this again. The E400 was already available in other markets at the time the E300 was released but it was not offered here due to " CAFE" standards, at least this is the reasoning we all agree was given by MBUSA. Regardless of how much more it costs, the point is if it can be offered now, why not then? It's all about not giving those that prefer a V6 the option then, letting them decide how much more they are willing to pay.

As others have stated, the logic doesn't make sense. The Canadian market has a choice of the four cylinder, a twin turbo V6 and a higher output level version of the same V6TT.

At MBUSA, the marketing department have somehow determined a E400 sedan would eat into the sales of the E43. The other problem is, at least in the Houston market, there are an extremely limited number of E43's on the ground. So no V6 sedan to sell period.

The certification line is bogus, I have a E400 wagon, which based on the US market's current taste for crossovers is a niche vehicle. Yet they still certify it knowing they won't even sell 2000 a year. On the other hand, if the E400 sedan was offered, it would sell at much higher numbers.

They were very slow releasing the E400 in Canada. Many cars were held up in Halifax for months. They were finally released in Feb. I was told it was because they were not certified even though they were the same engine as the previous model. Then they explained, it was because of the 9 speed trans and weight difference and they were waiting for MBUSA to certify the cars since we have the same CAFE standards as the US.

I really believe they make this up as they go. One spokesperson says something different than another. You would think it is the Trump WH.

They released the 400 in Canada simply because its considered a lower income country. Furthermore the US is by far the largest AMG market and thus more willing to pay more money for the badge alone
Stop whining about the 4! It provides almost the same performance as the 350 at legal speeds and its not going away for a looong time. At some point, probably 2019 model year the 3.0 TT will be replaced by an inline 6 turbo. Thats it. Im sure AMG will have its own flavor for that one too. Dont expect significant power increases from it either a few ponies in exchange for better efficiency and commonality through the entire MB family. Given how well the 43 does here, apparently very well, a 6cyl non amg E series is probably history in the US. As one reviewer put it, the 43 will become the new AMG "normal" while the 63 will become a much more exclusive and pricey product.

Sorry to burst your bubble. MB sells more cars per capita in Canada than in the US. "They sell the E400 in Canada because Canada has lower income"??? That doesn't make sense. We get an additional model over the US. As far as the E43 goes, dealers can't meet the demand. There are long wait times for allocations.

This may surprise you, things are not always better in the US. Here is one example: statistics show we live three years longer than Americans. As a matter of fact, the US is number 31 in world longevity. That may explain why we buy more MB cars than the US, we have longer to save up for one. I'll avoid commenting on you know who.

Have a nice Covfefe.

They sell more cars per capita in the Vatican too!!! DUH The American market is 30 times larger! They probably sell more MBs in LA county alone than in all Canada.
Learn mathematics... It will improve your life!!!!!
Furthermore, it wasn't meant as a diss on Canada, just a simple fact. Its also the reason you get B class MBs and we don't.
By the way if you like covfefe we'll send Trump there, we don't like him here, maybe he'll get a crush on Trudeau instead of Putin and stay there. You will love his yuge ego.
If Trump was our representative I guess Rob Ford is the Canadian golden boy

I don't think it's got anything to do with income; the E400 is available in most markets, like Japan, Hong Kong, the EU, even in China. Maybe it has something to do with emissions?

Maybe they just know we are dumber and willing to pay more! Trump is a perfect example or our stupidity and superficiality, but again Canada did have Ford
