The $100 offer was degrading to say the least! To me, it means all your troubles are worth $100 to MB. Too bad besides US, maybe Canada, "lemon law" is unheard of. Hope the lawyer can offer some relief.

Sounds like MB has a significant issue with their quality control related to electronics assembly and testing during the manufacturing process. Bad enough that you have a couple of annoying mechanical issues and sub-par parts, but the intermittent electronics speaks to poor build quality in an area that's problematic to resolve. Far too many people on this particular forum seem to have a litany of electronics-related issues with this new model that goes beyond just first year rollout issues. Definitely let your lawyer and MB sort this whole thing out. A $100 gift certificate is an insult.

If you hire the wrong person for the job, the result will be a FUBAR regardless of ethnic or language.

German labors don't work hard anymore like used too. I think auto union members work only 35 hrs. per week. Americans, Koreans, and Japanese are much better in that category. Just take a good look at the complaints, it's ridiculous! All the cars I owned previously don't have that many complaints combined!

So just because they work less hours a week they do a poor job?
Also, the fact that you are judging a car by the number of complaints on a forum like this is hilarious.

Hours worked per week doesn't matter. The real question is do they still have pride in their work? From a couple of people I've known who worked on US make assembly lines -- the Americans gave up a long time ago.

That said, I just had an American-made GLE as a loaner and it was by-far the most solid car I've driven in a long time. Not one single squeak, rattle, or glitch anywhere in the car.

Not yet

The lawyer will draw up a letter and send them to the Dealer and the Mercedes Switzerland.

He explained to me that it's a little different here then I'm the US and that the dealer carrys the responsibility to follow trough.

At the moment the best bet of getting out of this vehicle is to claim it unsafe die to the malfunction on the cruise control pilot *****.

It will randomly apply the brakes and slow the car down to a speed limit not posted. So for example I drive 65 mph which is the speed limit, but for some reason the car will brake down to 45.

Imagine someone driving behind you and this happens.

So we will claim the car not being safe. And Mercedes has no fix for this. I quote, this is the way it works now there are no fixes for it.

Thanx for your interest I will keep you posted.

Dejan

Wow. Just seems like the dealer should want to fix this immediately! What is their response to the problem? Have you taken them out on a drive in the car to show them this?

...

Yes. I have actually recorded it. And sent it to them. They know the problem exists.

They say that there is no solution to this problem.

Me Too!

Hello everyone. So my 2017 has had numerous rattles and has spent 21 days at the dealership trying to resolve these issues. So far the headliner rattle has been corrected and the review mirror rattle as well.

I am noticing a vibrating sound now coming from the passenger side dash on rough roads, which are now prevalent in Northern California, so I will be seeing the dealer to address that in the near future.

My keyless entry sometimes does not work and I have to use the key fob, but with the problems with the rattles I hardly notice it.

1 year of searching for a new car and I am stuck with this.

John
2017 E43

PS

My former car 2011 Audi S4 had zero rattles at time of trade in.

Now be honest Rick, aren't you so much happier that you managed to get a E400 than be swapped into another E300? Sure it doesn't have the latest dual large LED screen dash, but you don't have these kind of issues to deal with either.

Now I'm sure MB will eventually work all the kinks out of this new model E, as they usually do in future builds. However stuff like this with the vehicle just arbitrarily braking and slowing down is a massive safety flaw. People could get killed or seriously injured, if someone is tailgating you highway speeds when this occurs. To me, the response from the MB dealer to OP that they and MB corporate know and acknowledge that the problem exists, but they have no solution to it while they still expect OP to keep driving the vehicle, would make MB liable should an accident occur due to this malfunction.

Here are a couple of photos. The first one shows how UAW workers "fix" a door that doesn't close properly. The second one shows Porsche workers.

I believe these two photos tell a huge story about how things are done in Detroit and in Leipzig. With MB trying to be everything to everybody, I believe their workmanship is headed towards the Detroit model. Too bad.

That's gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You pick 2 random photos off of Google and try to compare them to each other and to MB?

To the OP, here's to a quick resolution of your issues, I'm curious if the Swiss consumer has more recourse than the folks on the other side of the pond.

I am very happy! The car drives like a new car. I had that awful oil / grease smell in the garage the second day after driving it all the first day. It didn't happen with my new sedan. The accelerator and brake pedals are very tight, but loosen with time. I didn't have that with my sedan.

It is weird driving a more expensive car with less features. I have to keep telling myself - it's a sports car. It shouldn't have to tell me I'm too close to something!

I have already researched switching out the premium speakers. They aren't engaging at all. Much better in the sedan!

I am shocked Mercedes isn't all over the OPs car for what it's doing while driving around. That is a safety issue and needs to be addressed!
