Big buy today! 2014 E350 MB vs 2014 GS350 Lexus
I'm making a huge purchase today and I'm having a hard time deciding on which vehicle to take. The analogy I use is Iphone vs Android. The GS has all the bells and whistles but the MB is sleek and has all the style..
In the LONG run, which would be the better buy? The E350 has 45k miles and priced at $27k and the GS350 has 30k mikes and prices at $31k.The both ride smooth and nice to look at lol but I need more help. The salesman is more of a Lexus guy so he's pretty bias but please offer your options. FYI, I will be getting a 5/6 yr warranty on either one when purchased.

I had eight, brand new Lexus LS sedans between 1993 and 2012. Lexus makes a fine product, but as of late, their exterior design has left me cold. In addition, the MB interiors are nicer. I've been 100% MB since 2012 and I think you'll be happier with the 3-pointed star, although I prefer a little one, on TOP of the hood, where it belongs.
P.S. I would not buy either one without a factory warranty in place. Check out MB CPO (certified pre-owned). Great prices & great warranty. Good luck!

The MB in this case is last generation looks ancient inside and outside , very much lacking in cabin tech and just looks outdated yet the price and mileage are relatively high.
I would go for the Lexus ! although I'm not a Lexus fan , I don't like the font / design of instrument cluster or navigation design but in this comparison I would say the Lexus IS my choice.

If you decide to go with MB, I would look for one with the lighting package. It looks like the MB you are considering doesn't have it. Personally, I would go with an MB but I'm just not a fan of Lexus.

I think the GS is a better buy. It is still current generation so it wont look like you are driving an older car. The E class is without the lighting package and also has the small 8 inch navigation. The GS has more equipment and that 12 inch navi is impressive in person.

You know, I don't know why I didn't just say this in my first post: how much do you have to spend? If it were me, I believe that I would be looking at a late model--if not a new--Honda or Toyota. Why get into one of these older cars, where repairs can be quite costly? I drive new MB luxury cars now, but I had many Hondas & Toyotas on my way up the ladder. They are rock solid dependable, cost almost nothing to maintain and leasing a new one is a great way to build a credit history.

A new Honda or Toyata simply just isn't my preference honestly; that's all. My credit is VERY strong and I just love these two cars. I'm coming out of a C250 that I purchased in 2014. There's no "ladder" to me. I just like what I like. With the lwareanties that I'll be getting on either one, repair costs isn't the biggest concern necessarily.

Are you talking about the speaker behind the rear passengers? On some older MB cars, they only had one speaker back there, but they create the plastic mesh surround to make it look consistent.

Yes those speakers. And okay because both Mercedes I'm referring to are 2014s but there's absolutely no sound back there. I guess they will just have to be added.

Between those 2 choices I would personally go with the Lexus. The E class choice is old and really outdated. Also with 45K miles its only a matter of time before things start going wrong and it will be expensive to fix. The Lexus on the other hand has quite a bit less miles and it does look pretty new compared to the Benz because the Benz was completely overhauled where as the Lexus GS was not a complete overhaul.
They say a Lexus is a glorified Toyota and although this is usually an insult, it also has some positive to it because Toyota's last a long time and are very reliable, meaning Lexus is generally the same way.
I do really like the E class but the choice you have is missing the lighting package and that was my biggest turn off for the 2014-2016 E classes (which is why I waited until the 2017 came out).
