Outside temperature meter or the engine temperature meter? The car is full of temperature sensors but the driver can read these two, I assume it is one or the other.

its the outside temperature sensor that is giving the wrong values.

I was stationed in El Paso in the 80's. I just don't get why anyone would willingly live in the frigging desert. And don't dare say its a "dry heat"! All weather in the south west is a disaster if its not scorching its sandstorms, or lightning, or wind, or floods or fires. It sucks all the time.

Not too bad then. For me it is not the sensor but the actual outside temperature that is all wrong.

I'm not sure which is worse:
Driving over the limit
Without holding the wheel
Following other traffic
With almost no fuel
Whilst listening to fox!

I read somewhere that it was so hot in Arizona right now that some smaller aircraft couldn't take off as it was outside their 48c specification!

118 F is the limit for the Regional Jets on creating proper Lift for take off. Those are the flights currently being cancelled.

Should have bought the hot and high version if Bombardier sell them. I know the press focus on thinner air equalling less lift but the engines are frequently the limiting factor. You can run out of turbine temperature margins quickly at those high airport temps especially on degraded engines close to overhaul.

These temps are a rarity, once every few years for a couple days. So probably not on the concerns of the airlines.
