Annoying things in the car - can it be corrected?

Hi

New in this forum and down in the flue...

Have looked for if someone has commented the doors but haven't seen anything yet so is it only me then I guess

Changed from 212 and is finding the two positions where the doors should stay open is far to weak. If you park in a slope, either the door will slam shut or slam open into something. If it's windy, be prepared to get the door back on you.

Asked at the dealer and answer was it is what it is...

Same problem

I thought that I was the only one with this problem. I have the exact same problem. Except that I learned it the hard way.

This is a huge design flaw in this car, I told my dealer about this and they changed the hinges. while doing so they managed to break a bolt that had to be drilled out and later on I realized the door is out of alignment and a huge gap on top of the door. Now the dealership is refusing to fix it blaming it on some bull**** reason, havent had the time to fight them. If I knew there going to change the hinges I would have left it alone. It didnt fix anything and the door is always closing on me. Dont get your car harassed, if you do want it fixed first make sure a updated part will be installed and tension will be increased. Also ask for the senior mechanic to work on it. Its a critical job. They also managed to put a hole in the door panel which I lucky caught the same day and had to waste more time to go back and leave the car there for another two weeks. The speakr in the door also blew, dont know if it was shorted while the door or what happened. This car is very cheaply made. Has alot of quality control issues.

I noticed this too with my E300. It is annoying I wish all Benzs had the same hinge system the S has where wherever you open the door it stays in that spot. This 2-3 hinge system is crap if you ask me.

The hinge internal door checks are not adjustable I am afraid, also there has been no change to the part so replacing them wont help.

I've never had the issue. Of course Florida is very flat, but it does get windy.

Luckily we don't have to worry about steep slopes and mountains in Florida but the wind will send the door slamming into my foot or whatever is next to the door.

Yes, older people are the main buyers because we've got money. Weak, not a chance. I'm 75 and can leg press 600 pounds.

They managed to get it correct in the 212 but maybe to many guys stuck in the car :-)

There is a funny side effect where since the back doors are the same and are very smooth people are not closing them hard enough so they bounces on the lock and are not entirely closed and then you have to get out of the car if the passenger doesn't notice.

Will complain anyway when I have it in for first regular service. If there are many complaints they might do something about it.

Such a shame, thanks for clarifying that up. My legs are bruised from the door hitting it. but on the other hand, my legs getting its workouts in from me pushing it out.
