Tempremental Ambient Lighting
Tried everything mentioned in the thread and finally looked up the fuse map and pulled the fuse 417 to reset it. Worked again .... For now
Just got a 2020 A220. We didnt know that ambient lighting was not std.
We're pretty bummed, especially the car has the nav, 360 cam and a lot of other options.
Is there ANY way to get some MB expert to add programming or change out a control module? We are willing to pay. Do the LEDs exist already and just need to be activated?
I see the translucent LED plastic "lenses" in place. We're just really bummed we werent aware of this beforehand! Thanks.

I had exactly the same issue as some of you with the ambient lighting of the dash not working (only the dashboard) Got it in for maintenance and let the dealer check it. They loaded the newest software and the problem is now partly solved. Everything works fine except that little strip left of the steering wheel lol.
Before the update when the entire dash had this problem i could fix it like many of you suggested, just fiddling with the settings. Now I can’t anymore and only sporadically the small strip comes on and lives his own life. Shutting down the car and getting back into it for example 10minutes later when going to the store seems to be a trigger of it not coming on again, dunno, really weird.
Anyway I took it back to the dealer and now they were able to see an error code when hooking it up to their computer. Cant really explain exactly how they told me but the computer basicaly said there is a malfunction with the cable/chip for that specific part of the ambient lighting (the dashboard) Apparently the chip is soldered to the cable so they have to replace the entire cable. Would cost around 500€, in my case to fix 20cm of the ambient lightening. :/
Thought i would share this with other people still having this problem.
I haven’t made an appointment yet as it’s an expensive repair for such a small part of the ambient lightening but ye... Eventually I’m gonna get it fixed but they also advised me to maybe wait a little bit and maybe Mercedes comes with another update or fix to remedy this without such a cost. I was hoping to find some kind of setting that fixes it but to no avail atm. The brightness zones setting kept it ok for 3 days or so but it’s back out now after a small visit to the store where I shutdown and start back up reasonably fast...

EDIT: I actually looked up the wiring harness and it costs only 32€? The local dealer told me the cable costs 200€!! I could easily just order the oem cable with diodes attached and just use one of that cable.

Taking in our car (2019 CLS450) for partial outage (from glove box to driver side) of the dashboard ambient lighting system to my dealership on Friday. (I will post also on CLS forum as well.)
Probably a software upgrade or and cable replacement. Will report on outcome.
