Interior ambient lighting in cla 200 not working

My car interior ambient lights not working after i service. After the service the car suddenly turned on different kind of alarms on the screen. They had to pick the car up and tow it back for repairs. After the issues has been repaired, i picked up the car and drive it home then i noticed that the interior ambient lights at the side doors, seats, and cup holders are not on. I have tried to change the color and adjusting the brightness but it still not working. It only been few days since i picked up the car.

My wagon had similar issue earlier tonight with only the driver door lighting functional.

Tried everything mentioned in the thread and finally looked up the fuse map and pulled the fuse 417 to reset it. Worked again .... For now

Apologies that I'm in the wrong Class:-), but it seems that you are experts here regarding Ambient Lighting.
Just got a 2020 A220. We didnt know that ambient lighting was not std.
We're pretty bummed, especially the car has the nav, 360 cam and a lot of other options.
Is there ANY way to get some MB expert to add programming or change out a control module? We are willing to pay. Do the LEDs exist already and just need to be activated?
I see the translucent LED plastic "lenses" in place. We're just really bummed we werent aware of this beforehand! Thanks.

I don't have access to technical documentation, but with my understanding of how MB builds these cars, the LEDs physically aren't present, so enabling them is just going to generate fault codes.

mercedes w213 wagon
Hi! I found this thread by googling the ambient lighting issue for a Mercedes w213 from 2017.

I had exactly the same issue as some of you with the ambient lighting of the dash not working (only the dashboard) Got it in for maintenance and let the dealer check it. They loaded the newest software and the problem is now partly solved. Everything works fine except that little strip left of the steering wheel lol.

Before the update when the entire dash had this problem i could fix it like many of you suggested, just fiddling with the settings. Now I can’t anymore and only sporadically the small strip comes on and lives his own life. Shutting down the car and getting back into it for example 10minutes later when going to the store seems to be a trigger of it not coming on again, dunno, really weird.

Anyway I took it back to the dealer and now they were able to see an error code when hooking it up to their computer. Cant really explain exactly how they told me but the computer basicaly said there is a malfunction with the cable/chip for that specific part of the ambient lighting (the dashboard) Apparently the chip is soldered to the cable so they have to replace the entire cable. Would cost around 500€, in my case to fix 20cm of the ambient lightening. :/

Thought i would share this with other people still having this problem.

I haven’t made an appointment yet as it’s an expensive repair for such a small part of the ambient lightening but ye... Eventually I’m gonna get it fixed but they also advised me to maybe wait a little bit and maybe Mercedes comes with another update or fix to remedy this without such a cost. I was hoping to find some kind of setting that fixes it but to no avail atm. The brightness zones setting kept it ok for 3 days or so but it’s back out now after a small visit to the store where I shutdown and start back up reasonably fast...

grtz

Dealer is referring to diode and recommending harness replacement. See if an independent can identify diode and replace.

Hm can you explain a little bit? I have no clue who I should ask to do that and even to do what because I don’t understand what exactly the malfunction is. Is this fixable without changing the cable?

As I understand it the chip dealer is referencing is diode (5) in post 57. If you are not covered by warranty what I’m suggesting find someone who can locate an aftermarket matching replacement diode and solder into existing cable. Dealer is recommending entire harness (80) replacement depicted in post 57 because MB does not offer diode separately. Independent shop should be able to accomplish replacement either in house or using their interior electronics vendor.

I’m having a very hard time believing that they genuinely are serious about changing the entire cable when just the diode is malfunctioning.

EDIT: I actually looked up the wiring harness and it costs only 32€? The local dealer told me the cable costs 200€!! I could easily just order the oem cable with diodes attached and just use one of that cable.

My 2018 S560 that i just got a few days ago is having a problem with the door lighting. The dash lighting works fine but the lighting on all 4 doors and the lighting around the 3D tweeters quit working tonight. I'm hopefully maybe it will work tomorrow, I was really giving the 3D audio a test with some loud music when it seemed to happen. Maybe from the vibrations, but it should be able to hold up to that. Oh well another thing to add to the list next time the car goes back to the dealer, car is under factory warrantee for the next 22 months.

Ambient Lighting Issue:

Taking in our car (2019 CLS450) for partial outage (from glove box to driver side) of the dashboard ambient lighting system to my dealership on Friday. (I will post also on CLS forum as well.)

Probably a software upgrade or and cable replacement. Will report on outcome.

Had my Software updated yesterday at the dealer on the ambient lighting module, there were a bunch of fault codes stored in it. Known issue on the 2018's
