Ambient Lighting Issue
I have a new 2018 E400 and I am having a issue with the ambient lighting strip. When I get in to the car at night I see the lighting at the lower part of the door but the strip does not light up. If I go to setting I can set the colour and it works. Once I leave the car and go back to the car the issue repeats itself. I am thinking this is an issue with the car as I think I have all the settings right. Has anyone experienced this? Is there something I should check?

As my post on the above thread I'm having a similar issue....the car went in on Monday for a software 'reload'...I was told it was sorted but on collection the fault was still present....the fault is very intermittent and there doesn't appear to be any pattern to the issue....it'll have to go back for another attempt, I'm not sure what that will involve and I don't think they know either!

Does anyone know how to turn on the ambient lights inside this car? The option is not in the meny , but it looks like the ledbars is installed... i guess i have to go to an hidden meny and enable the option so it shows up in the "real" meny?? Can anyone help?

Go into the car settings menu, then lights, then ambient lighting. (From memory...)
Note that during the day the only colour you can see is the electric blue option.

Thats how i have done it on the others mercedes that i have owned , but on this the ambient light option doesnt appear on the menu... the previous owner said that there was no ambient light , but the ledbars are installed . So i wonder if i can go in to some hidden menu and enable the option to get the ambient light menu in there somehow ?? I just think that they make the most of the cars similar and that the byers that include ambient light on the spec got an options for this in the menu and that they just remove the option from the menu on the one that dont order it ... the ledbars are there but they hide the option to turn them on if you know what i mean ..

I have a 2018 mod , got it 2 weeks ago . I live in Norway ... it was originaly order as a taxi but the guy that orderet it decided to sell it right away . I really appriciate your help , but this option in the menu is missing ... so if u or others could help to get it up in the menu you would make a norwegian guy very very happy and thankfull

Yeah i know that , but i was just thinking that since the ledbars is placed everywhere where they are supposed to be , they hade just removed the option in the menu to turn them on ... i guessed that is the difference between taxi and other cars , the option to turn them on ... so i hoped someone know how to enable the option to get the ambient light in the menu again .. cause i think the dealership just "hide" the optionto turn them on , in the cars that dont order the ambient light ..

The ambient lighting is operated over LIN bus and controlled by ambient lighting control unit. The head unit is only for making settings. May simply need to be coded in by dealer via Xentry, post or PM VIN possibly EPC will confirm if vehicle is equipped with control unit.

EPC = MB electronic parts catalog here I can see if control unit is installed in your vehicle by entering your vehicle's VIN (i.e.: WDDZF4KB7JA301071).
