Better door locks?
So the door lock posts on top of the door are super cheap looking for a car in this price range. Are there brushed aluminum posts out there that match the door seat adjustment knobs and do they just screw on and off? Thanks!

Im glad someone is bringing up the door locks again. I recently purchased the metal ones as found on the GTR. I cant install them correctly. The current plastic ones twist off and I tried twisting back on the new ones but they never go down enough so they stick up.

Not sure what the part numbers are, but I can find out, but the E400 in Canada come equipped with grippy brushed aluminum posts and they are nice.

3. Follow this procedure:
Here is the trick that the MB master mechanic told me (and I can confirm that you need to do it this way). Connect both the door pin and clip together and then lock the door, next push the door pin/clip combo down as far as it goes... it will lock in place. If you attempt to screw down the black clip and then push the door pin over it (as designed), it will stick up too high.

My 2018 E400 Coupe came with these metal lock posts, which to my eye don't look at all cheap — are you talking about the same things?

I picked up my E400 Sedan luxury model on Jan 2nd. The luxury model comes with the aluminum style door knobs. If you buy them at the dealer you will get what you need.

Those metal ones on the coupe are the ones I bought for my sedan. The sedan comes with black plastic ones. That thread posted in here has the part number for those metal ones.
I tried to use the trick Vic posted but has hard as I pushed, they didnt go down

Thank you! After searching for those two part numbers it seems that A 099 766 00 00 (the locking piece that secures the new knob) has been replaced by 099-766-27-00. Maybe they updated the part and replaced the number. I just placed an order online for

I just checked with this seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/351888141274?ul_noapp=true, and they replied that it won't be compatible for W213s. Just heads up.

But anyways I got my eyes on: 099-766-01-00-2A17 and 099-766-27-00.
Let me know how this works out for you, and if you have some installation vids/pics that'll be really helpful
Also, can you show some pics of when it's locked and unlocked?
Thanks again!

Putting some loctite on it sounds a bit "nasty"

It just keeps the lock pin set to the proper orientation since if you bottom out on the threading it most likely won't line up the AMG lettering.
Also the plastic pin set feels cheap and they don't hold on tight. Not that you would but if you ever tried to manually pull the pin up the cover would just fall off in your hand. It's cheap as hell. But it also sits below the lock hole when locked so you can't manually remove it and it looks stupid. It should be flush. I'll be buying the overpriced AMG ones I guess.

May I ask if you read post #5 above and followed those instructions? I re-posted it from a discussion in the C43 AMG section about replacing door locks. Just wondering if it doesn't apply to new W213 model. Been thinking about doing this mini-mod.
