I noticed that on a lot of press images and those cars who are outside the US have metal door pins, while in the US, I think I noticed they are black plastic.
Can anyone confirm this, and if so, has anyone looked into ordering the silver metal pins and replacing those on their cars?
MBUSA 09976605009051 black plastic. In addition, EPC shows aluminum 09976601002A17 + lower plastic part 0997660000 and AMG lettering 0007660800 check with dealer for availability.

Wait a second. The US models come with plastic door pins?
Can you be a little more clear as to what I would need to replace them with the aluminum one like in the GLE450?
Just 4 of these? 09976605009051
(I assume you mean MBUSA 09976605009051 black plastic is the standard oem E300 door lock in plastic) can anyone confirm that the GLE450 door pin can be installed easily?
Ordered. Much appreciated. Hopefully everything goes to plan.
So the stock door pins swivel out and the new ones are pressed on from what I understand. This is the same for all 4 doors ? (no change in front to rear).

Yep, that's exactly the way the C-Class pins worked. I haven't tried the process on an E-Class (but if all goes to plan, I will be later next year). Let us know how it goes
The aluminum door lock pins come standard on the E300 Luxury model in the US. The Sport model gets the black plastic pins. I'm going to check with my local MB dealer and see if they can order the aluminum pins for my E300 Sport.
That is how mine worked. I unscrewed all 4 and screwed in the new ones. One on the back was able to screw down too far, so I took off the door panel to see why. The new pin wasn't being stopped by the notch they have in the door pin arm. This seems to be because the opening on the metal pin is wider than the stock pin. I used lock tight(I used blue, not red), screwed it down to where I wanted it and let it sit. Holding very tight in the right spot.
On another note, I ordered them from this ebay seller. He ships fast and has good communication. I ordered some of the metal sport pedals from him as well. I believe it is a Benz dealer selling through ebay.
Unscrew confirmed. I had to use some pliers to unscrew them off. These pins are very tight on there. I got the cheap version. I get myself to pay $50 a pin. https://www.ebay.com/itm/282359547485
I had no problem with the rear pins. The fitting are the same as the fronts. I used silicon to keep them label straight (no thread locks around).
It's ok for now.
