I am not a big fan of boost or even the turbo engine. The v6 and i6 engines were good and reliable. Any boost of gas mileage will bring with it complexity which affects longivity and reliability.

E350 to launch in summer 2019

I presently lease a 2016 E350 4matic. My lease ends in the fall. When I called my dealer, he told me that the 2018 E300 has been replaced by the 2019 E350 and the 2018 E400 by the 2019 E450 and that Mercedes is no longer taking orders for the model year 2018. Only what is presently in dealer inventories are available for sale.

Having driven the 2018 E350, I felt it was “peppy” but not “powerful and smooth” and was leaning to the E400. However, and subject to driving the 2019 E350, I think it will be more than sufficient. The dealer also sent me the following from Mercedes Benz:

E350 4matic:

2.0L inline turbo engine with EQ boost 295 HP, 295 lb-ft torque
EQ boost outputs 13 HP and up to 111 lb ft torque
0-60 5.6 secs
Launch Date: Summer 2018

E450 4Matic

3.0 V6 Biturbo engine
363 hp
369 lb-ft torque
0-60 5.3 secs
Launch Date: Fall 2018

The estimated mpg on the 2019 E350 as compared to the 2018 E300 will be an improvement of 10% to 15%. Neither the E350 nor the E450 will qualify as a “clean vehicle” for use in HOV lanes. In a nutshell the 2019 E350 will be more powerful, faster and get better mileage than the 2018 E300 – a win – win!

The EQ boost technology has been out for a year on both the E400 cabriolet and sedan so I believe the “bugs” will have been worked out – at least I hope they will on the 2019 E350.

Read the thread. There is no 2019 E350 - that car has been canceled.

Found this info about the new 2019 E450. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...wer-e450-model Notably, all versions will be rear drive as an option.

"The E450 models are powered by an upgraded version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 found in the E400 4Matic, bringing 362 hp and 369 lb-ft versus 329 hp and 354 lb-ft previously."

It's a wrong information about all versions of E450 available with RWD as an option. Sedan and Wagons come only with 4Matic AWD. Coupes and Cabriolets 4Matic is optional. As far as new engine power - that's really old info. If you read this thread, we already talked about it since about 3 months ago.

Here's the revised (attached) 2019 E-Class ordering guide that I just received from the dealer. I just include a few pages. The E-350 was eliminated, and the E300 was kept as-is, regarding the engine. The E-400 is being changed to the E-450 with a "new" V6 engine (but not with EQ tech or the 48 volt system).

Nice info, however I am only seeing two pages. How long is this guide?
Can anyone else see the whole thing?

Just went over the sheets and note that the AMG, 6 cylinder has the EQ system. Does the EQ system exist on any V6? As I previously posted, (until corrected), I was interested in the E350 with EQ only to find out that it will not be imported this year into the US as a 2019 model.

No, the EQ branding/tech is only for the new I6 engines.

I thought when MB USA killed E350 - it was some kind of exception. But now they just keep scrapping more of the previously announced models. Read here: Important update on 2019 GT-Class . And the rumor is E53 with it's EQ engine is in danger of not making it as well... What's going on with MBUSA??

It is strange that they kill models for which they took orders... I think that's very unusual in the industry. Where did you hear the rumor about the E53? We'll know about the E53 soon enough because they are about to start building them in a week for the US market. Seems a bit late to kill them.

Considering MBUSA just launched the social media campaign for the E53 Coupe, I would be very surprised if they cancelled it.

Killer combo, Black, Night Package, RVP wheels, just the way I want it.

It all depends if the cars can be certified. My two E43's took nine months from order to delivery due to certification problems. The US is making certification much more difficult since the VW scandal plus an administration that is very protectionist.
