Massage Seats, what about my butt?
One of the comfort features I most enjoyed about my friends 2018 E350 Sedan (earlier build) was the massage seats. I lamented not having it in all of my BMW’s over the years until I got my 2018 E400 Coupe.
I noticed two things that seemed to be missing even though I have Level 3 Package.
1) In my friends E350 the massage feature also massages your butt/thighs - it’s the full seat getting all the action. In my new E400, only the back gets massaged. No seat action at all. Has anyone else noticed this? Why would they change this on a newer model?
2) Active side bolsters For some reason, there’s no side bolster action happening when I go around curves or in turns like my friends E350. I can’t find anywhere in the menu where I can select or activate this.
Anyone else have this issue?

The multicontour seats are described as: Pneumatically adjustable lumbar, side and shoulder supports offer custom-tailored comfort. Four massage programs can help soothe and rejuvenate your back and shoulders. Nowhere does it mention the other features you wish you had.

Thanks, but it’s not just what I “wished I had” but rather that in an earlier build E350 sedan, the seat pan also has the massage feature, not back only.
so my question was more, did MB change this to exclude the seat in newer builds? The difference in the massage action is noticeably different in th two cars, built only a few months apart.

The W213 is a totally new design. The previous model W212 dates from 2010. I doubt is there are many interchangeable interior components, if any, between the two very different designs. The W212 interior is taller and narrower than the W213.

2017 E300 p2 package. I have the active seats. They do hug me in turns, corners and bumps, This feature can be activated and deactivated and you can choose the level of "Active seat" you want/ (level 0, 1 and 2). from main menu-Vehicle settigs-seats-active seats-then you choose the option you want for passenger and for driver.
There are more then 4 massage programs and there are two programs that massage the butt. One is the active cushion massage ( does only the butt cushion) and the other is Activating massage ( back and butt).

There is a difference between the sedan which has Active Multicontour Seats ($1,350) and the coupe which has Multicontour Seats ($950).
The sedan description is: Pneumatically adjustable lumbar, side and shoulder supports offer custom-tailored comfort. I dont know about the coupe or why it would be different, but the Wave massage on the sedan has butt action 
Its the only one of all the programs. I agree this is a bit lame, but its better than nothing.
