Did You Follow the Recommendations During the 1000 Mile Break-in
Since we picked up a E300 last weekend, and I'm getting a E400 tomorrow, I'm curious how closely you followed the owner's manual about the first 1000 mile break-in period. The owner's manual suggests you stay in Comfort or Eco mode during the first 1000 miles. It also says not to redline or anything, which I wouldn't do even after a 1000 miles. I won't go Eco as I hate it and I automatically turn it off on engine start. It's a bit disappointing that in my 2016 C300, you can program Eco to stay off in an Individual setting, which you can't do on the E class. Please let me know if you stayed within the recommended Comfort or Eco mode during the break-in period. Thanks

I stayed in Comfort for the first 1,000 miles. I've noticed that the eco start/stop does not function when A/C is running. I keep it set at 68°F and it runs all the time. When I kept the A/C warmer eco start/stop would often shut down the engine then restart it because of the rise in cabin temperature.

As for ECO, understand that the ECO on/off "feature" is different than the ECO driving mode, which is even more conservative than the Comfort mode when it comes to gear shifting and so forth.
BTW, I too hate the on/off and purchased a gadget on eBay from a guy in Europe to turn it off permanently. Highly recommended!

I didn't even know there were any instructions...lol. I'm not a fast driver anyway and predominately stay in Eco, unless I am bored in traffic and want to show off...lol. People usually stare as I down shift when I come to a light.
