Gliding Mode

My 2023 CLA 200 used to always go into glide mode when lifting off the accelerator in eco and start/stop at junctions and traffic lights. However, I now notice that I can do my 32 mile journey to work (motorway, A roads and urban) without it coming on now that they weather is colder (4/5 degrees). Then we have a warmer spell (10 degrees) it works all the time. I have had the battery checked at the Mercedes dealer and it is in good condition.
Is this related to outside temperature, oil temperature or something else?
If I really wanted to reduce fuel costs, I would buy an economy car that doesn't require premium gas.
I have seen that the start/stop feature varies, based on the weather and the condition of the battery. It's kind of an early warning system when the start/stop won't activate anymore. I don't know whether the weather affects glide mode.

Auto/start: I like auto start because of two things:
- Not idling at a stop sign is better for the environment
- It saves gas. I have yet to meet any rich person who doesn't like to save money. (Most got rich by saving money where they can) (there are numerous threads on pros and cons on auto/start if anyone is interested - just do a search)
However, as the temps go lower, the auto/stop does not engage as often as when the temps are in the 50's and above.
This is my experience: Hope this helps

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Maybe it's a combination between cold weather and the electrical draw on the car that cuts it off.
Maybe it is a comb
