E450 or A6 ....🤔
Bouncing between A6 and E450/53
Before my test drives, my research shows:
===== > Audi A6 < =====
-No remote start.
-No Air suspension? =Rougher ride?
-No All wheel steering.
+Had A6, very reliable. NO acceleration hesitation.
+😎 Active matrix headlights
+-Touch screen
-Touch screen: Fingerprints!
-All new model = less reliable?
===== > Mercedes E450 < =====
+Dealer closer
-Infotainment overly complicated?
+Air suspension
+Not new model = more reliable?
+😎 cool windshield washers.
+😎 dual visors
+😎 trunk storage box.
?+E53 -ride quality?
+Remote Start via Mercedes Me

Either choice would be nice and none of us can tell you which one you should choose. I would make a change to your list for the E450. Once you get used to Comand Infotainment, you simply won't find it overly complicated and most things you can do via voice command. Plus MB built redundancy into this system, to let you adjust things via the steering, the Comand knob or hard buttons, so it's really pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

The Audi looks like a Jetta or Passat. Too much cross brand sharing going on at VW/Audi/Porsche these days. I get it, all in the pursuit of profit, but the interior of the Audi doesn't compare to the MB. Indeed, my mother has the Q5 (don't know if it's the same layout inside) and I find the interior a hint pedestrian and overly complicated to adjust all the settings. MB puts each function in its own heading (vehicle, settings, navi, etc). As for the exterior design, it's not even close either. Audi started the whole teutonically bland design a decade ago but it's over now. I want to see some edges and curves.
Sign me up for the 450 or 53 anyday over the A6 (and you ought to be comparing S6, yes?)

Never did i ever consider an AUDI in my lifetime... but you really have to see the new 2019 A6 in person haha. also, saw some pictures of the new E-TRON GT sedan.... absolutely stunning.... !
I think they realized they need to compete, and they found their angle recently.

It's definitely better looking than the A6. At least it's edgier and has bold lines. I hate when automakers let wind tunnels do all the design work. There should be some artistry there. But, you're right, the Etron looks solid...if it makes it to market with those wheel well flares. Nicely done.

I hope you have, or will be driving them both.
There is something to be said about letting emotion be a big part of the decision. I only say this because I owned four Audis. One of them was an A6 and I thought it was a pretty decent car. But every time I get in my E400 I think "Man, this is such an awesome car". Never had that with any other car I owned (but the S4 was pretty close). There is nothing objective about that feeling, but it sure makes me feel great about getting this car rather than a fifth Audi.
I will say the newer Audis are looking really nice. They just weren't available when I was ready to buy.

It is not a fair statement to assume the A6 would be more reliable. People here know what my next car choice is, and I will be the first to say the E450 would be infinitely more reliable.
That said the A6 has regular non RFT though!
If I could get the E class with the Acoustic Comfort Package, I would have bought the E versus the 2019 A6. That said, because I can't, if I were in your shoes, I'd buy the A6, but I would fell well know the hell I am signing myself up for.

IMO the new Audi interior is hideous. The screen is too low and distracting. Too many buttons. And everything feels very plasticky. The MB interior is 1000 times better.

Oh hell no. Try it before you knock it. To me, the E class's interior is dated versus the A6. Until you try it, your opinion is invalid, and man, that bothers me just saying that as I would have said what you said without a doubt. That said once I tried the new MMI system, I will never (and bought an Audi as a result) go back to MB. (purely from an interface perspective).

I went to check out the A6 two weeks ago. My impression was it felt very chi-chi, sophisticated, a trendy nightclub go-er, martini with olive drinker. It has a lot of screens but well laid out. The seats and interior is very nice. Its a car that would impress anyone who sat in it or saw it. And when you compare it to the E, I feel the E has more elegance, less in your face, less trying to uptrend everyone. The E is more mellow and chill but has power and umph when you ask for it, the A6 is the I have every latest tech, gadget, trend setter kinda feel. I just love the E drive and I am sure the A6 ride/power is good too, I just dont want all the techy stuff.
The last take away is, the same person who would buy an Audi A6 would probably consider a Porsche Cayenne or Macan because the Porsche has the trendy German luxury feel the A6 had.

Audi interior a little too boxy for me; MB has the smoother lines. Plus that Audi grill is a big turn off for me. Just all a matter of preferences.

As someone said upthread, drive both cars and come up with a decision. Both are amazing cars.
