Android Auto + Widescreen
This is an old photo from my Gen 1, but this morning the Gen 2 looked much the same. Note, I was amused that occasionally the logo on the left would show up as 'Baidu CarLife', which from google I understand is the chinese equivalent of Android Auto. Snapped this photo to document it, but this behavior seems to have ceased and Android Auto was the only one that showed up for the last year or so.
Teeran Wireless Android Auto Adapter - Plug & Play Dongle Converts Wired Android Auto to Wireless - For Android Phones https://a.co/d/7fxzEW4
They are all somewhat similar but might be worth a try. You probably won't get fullscreen but you might get the wireless function at least.

I've tried multiple android auto wireless devices and none worked until I tried this one which solves the problem perfectly: *** This will only work if you enable the setting in the AAwireless app that says, "AA over CP" which tricks the car into thinking the signal is using Apple Carplay which automatically has full-screen capability. Such a smart solution this company came up with.

Mercedes has deliberately limited the display of Carplay/Android Auto so that it cannot be displayed over the full width of the screen.
So if you want to show AA/CarPlay in full screen mode you will need a carplay module kit special for Mercedes.
Check this carplay module kit here: https://www.carputech.com/products/w...r-link-airplay
I have a 2019 E450 wagon with the original COMAND software that came with the car. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10 with current Android.
I usually have maps up and also Libby to listen to audiobooks when using AA and now it is much better with the full wide screen.

Setup was quick. You need to install their app from the Play Store. And, then follow the prompts to connect your phone to the AAWireless device. Maybe 5 minutes max.
Finding the setting to use Android Auto over Carplay took a few minutes. I wasn't sure where it was in the app. It's under CarPlay. Go to the Settings gear at the top right of the app and then scroll down to the bottom under CarPlay, you'll see "AA over CP" and make sure it is enabled. If you want to go back to just wireless AA, just turn this setting off.
It appears Carplay takes a little longer to launch than Android Auto, but I don't think it's a problem with the device, just a difference with AA and CarPlay. Or, it could be the negotiation with the phone, AAWirelss and car.
The font size on the Google Maps when in Carplay is much smaller than that in AA. So, if you rely on reading the upcoming exit numbers or street names, etc when using Maps, you may or may not like it.
I had originally thought I'd use the wireless charging since I wouldn't need to plug in the phone, but when the phone is on the wireless charge, it doesn't do well getting signals from the satellites for the GPS.
So, I still need to plug it in on long drives. But, for short drives around town, where I don't need to charge, I don't have to my phone out of my pocket.
The only problem I've found, but haven't looked into it too much, is that if you take a call on the phone, the CarPlay shuts down. Then starts back up when the call has ended. Not sure if there is a setting that changes this, but I don't do many calls in the car.
