Anyone had experience with"ceramic rain" on windshields & glass?

I'm going to have the ceramic coating applied this spring, and wondered if the added "rain" coating is worth it or desirable to the glass and windshield. What say you?

Under no circumstance add any coatings to your windshield. MB wiper are allergic to them. They will cause severe skipping, shuddering and all sorts of problems. Feel free to use on all other glass surfaces. I use aquapel, which is very long lasting and works great. Again, not on the windshield!

Hello @rustybear3
I would invite you to take a look at our windshield rain repellent, Vision Protect. Vision Protect will last up to two years on the windshield and five on the side glass. The coating is lab tested up to 500,000 wiper cycles. It is an inorganic, UV resistant, nanotechnology. It repels Rain, Snow, Ice, and Road Grime. It does not need periodic re-treatment as some of thee other products do. I have it on my E-350 and Tundra. The Tundra is coming up on 9 months and it is performing the same as the day I applied it. There is never any wiper chatter with this coating. Go to Nanovationsusa.net or call 561-630-0747 thx. John Mangham

Hello @c4004matic

I would invite you to take a look at our product Vision Protect. It will last up to two years on the windshield and is lab tested. Never any chatter on any glass, including Mercedes. I have it on my 2008 E-350. It won't harm the paint or surrounding areas as some products do. Easy application. Nanovationsusa.net John Mangham

I’ve got my wagon in getting a combination of ceramic coating and paint protection film right now. I’m also getting a glass treatment called glassparency. There’s a lot of product hype out there and it’s hard for me to tell if I made the right call, but we’ll see.

@madtrader Vision Protect is the next generation in windshield rain repellents.Vision protect is lab tested up to 500,000 wiper cycles, tested for UV degradation and road salt. It repels Rain,Snow, Ice and road Grime. Vision Protect will last up to two years on the windshield and five on the side glass. You do not need the re-treatments or "revitalizers" like the competing products. They have this because basically they have to retreat in order for the coating to stay Hydrophobic.

Reasonably priced and no gimmicks with Vision Protect. This nanotechnology is a best seller around the world but fairly new to North America. Please visit Nanovationsusa.net or call 561-630-0747.

G1 ClearVision Smart Glass

In 11/17, I got an application of CQuartz ceramic coating for my 2015 C300 (from Arlington Auto Detailing in Belmont, MA). The price (now $550 for a car) included an application of G1 ClearVision windshield treatment. It has worked as advertised (see below). There has been no chattering or streaking, I use MB windshield wipers. My car is not garaged, and we get a lot of tree pollen and other dirt from the sky. Rain washes the junk away cleanly, even in areas not swept by the windshield wipers. When I get the CQuartz renewed this fall, I will try to get the G1 applied to the side windows too. At present, water drop residue and film build up quickly on them, in contrast to the windshield.

The Gtechniq North America website advertises:

G1 ClearVision Smart Glass
- 15ml $17.95d

G1 ClearVision Smart Glass
- 100ml $59.99

QUICK OVERVIEW
  • 1 to 2 years durability
  • Improves wet weather visibility helping to improve safety and eye strain
  • Makes ice, bugs, tree sap etc. much easier to remove
Why use Gtechniq G1 ClearVision Smart Glass?
Unlike regular rain repellent coatings that adhere to the surface of the glass using relatively weak physical bonds, G1 uses a chemical bond which gives G1 unrivalled durability. G1's excellent durability and exceptionally low smear characteristics make it ideal for car windscreens.

@gfmohn Hello, I would invite you to take a look at our windshield rain repellent, Vision Protect. It will last up to two years on the windshield and five on the side and rear glass, with NO revitalizing required. Vision Protect is lab tested up to 500,000 wiper cycles. It repels rain, snow, ice, and road grime. This Nanotechnology is an inorganic, UV resistant, hard coating.

Although fairly new to N.A.,the technology is used around the world on large buildings, cruise ships, etc. It will outlast all of the hydrophobic coatings that I am familiar with. No chatter ever with it. Visionprotect.net or if you have any questions please call 561-630-0747.

Any products that would remove wiper marks? Purchased it CPO but they could not get the marks removed and then tend to disperse sunlight and headlights. Thanks.

I assume you mean the marks made by the wipers reversing at the same place on the windshield. Perhaps, also, arcs made by worn blades that are activated "dry," with little or no wipers fluid (because the washers are out of order). Those aren't "marks" (meaning deposits on the glass). Those are abrasions of the glass itself. Nothing will take them off (because there is nothing to take off). The only cure is a new windshield.
