Side mirrors tilting when reversing

I just picked up my car from the dealer from a service.
I noticed my side mirrors do not tilt down when I put my car in reverse anymore.

After some googling, I was able to "fix" it for the passenger side but not the driver side.
Before I go ask the dealer and look like a fool, does the driver side's mirror tilt down? I am having second doubts because I could not find any instructions on setting the driver's side's mirror.

Thanks in advance.

In my manual, the the mirror parking position is only referred to for the passenger mirror, not the driver's mirror. I think they figure you can raise your head to see lower on the driver's side, but that has little affect on the passenger side. (On my Acura, the tilting mirror is determined by which mirror adjusting button is pressed.)

Your post made me smile. I am used to just having an automatic tilt when selecting reverse. But with the 213, I like you had to read the manual to figure out the system. On another vehicle I use the third memory position as the tilt down. Todays project is to get the car clock set to AZ time. AZ outside of the Reservations does not observe Daylight time.

Well, I have no choice. I've downloaded a 2019 manual, which I've read through several times, but my 2020 E450 Wagon will not be built until November 21, and I hope to get it mid-December. ;-)

All 535 pages multiple times? Did you notice there is no entry for Clock?

Search “daylight” 2019 (check page 268), 2020 (276).

Maybe one of our UK friends can tell us whether -- in right-hand drive countries -- the left side mirror tilts down in lieu of the right side mirror for RHD cars. Given there are so few RHD countries, I'd be curious to learn if MB has gone to the programming time and expense to make this exception available?

But here in North America (LHD), only the right hand mirror tilts down, and only when the RT mirror button is selected (and set as default). It's been this way for decades. I'm guessing this is determined by one of several build codes, such as "494 U.S. Version" or "705L United States (USA)" or "7XXL North and South America," all present on my build sheet.

Code "494 U.S. Version" (only) is also present on the datacard for my 2001 C320. That car also has the tilt down mirror feature

OR... Is it that all cars are built with LHD defaults, and there are exception codes only for UK, Japan, etc.

The manual says the Passenger mirror moves down, not the Right mirror, so I imagine it is reversed in right-hand- drive locations.

Ah, yes. The term "passenger " sounds more ubiquitous and concise.

Thanks all for the responses.
After driving for a day, I think I was thrown off when I saw the passenger mirror wasn't tilting and thought that both should tilt.

I am in the UK and my near side (left) mirror only tilts down.

"Left" sounds consistent with "Passenger" we've seen above. Just curious: if you're driving, on the Right (in the UK), why would you call the left mirror your "near side"?

"Nearside" is British English for the side closest to the curb, or "kerb" (more Britspeak).

Ha! Given that they go to to the time and expense of making the steering wheel, pedals, and all the dashboard available on either side, I doubt that a little software makes much of a dent.
