I love my debadged car. That was one reason I special-ordered it from the factory. I think it looks much more elegant that way.
Same here. The order goes in as "delete badge". (Or you can do it yourself, and give the badges to some boy-racer wannabe to slap on his E300. My wife is German, so I have been to Germany many times. A large majority of passenger cars in Germany are de-badged. It's not just luxury cars; it's all cars. No particular reason; it's just a custom. (My wife's brother calls E-Class Mercedes "taxis", because they're so common (pun intended) as taxis in Germany.)
In a couple months, I am going to trade up to a C43. I attend a very conservative church. A car is just a tool, so why spend more on it than you have to? The only people who still drive sedans are over 70 (including myself). My C300 is the only luxury car in the lot. So my new C43 is going to be a stealth C43. Same color as my present C300 and interior as similar as possible. Same style of wheels, I will have to change from Luxury trim to Sport trim. Only one guy in my church would notice that change, and I don't park near him. A few of the men might notice a "Biturbo" badge and know what it meant. But they wouldn't care.
Over the years I've seen a lot of cars that bear the badges but obviously aren't what the owner wants everyone to think he's driving. (Yeah, "he"; women are rarely that stupid.)

haha. I’ve seen my fair share. BMW fake ///M badges are also a thing.
Thanks for the explanation. We just got back a couple of weeks ago from driving around so my wife could visit several Christmas markets in Germany and I noticed that. Seemed rather odd to me.

When I bought my w212, it was in Atlanta, about 6 hours driving from where I lived at the time. The pictures posted online from the dealer showed it was debadged. When I flew out to pick it up I was surprised that the car had the proper badging. I got concerned I was being shown a different car, but they produced a worksheet showing they rebadged it as part of the CPO process with the part numbers of the badges ordered and applied. I had it debadged again within a week.
