2018 E-300 4matic Sedan
Dealer recommended service different than corporate Mercedes?

I recently took my car (2018 E-300 4matic) in for its first Service B at about 20k miles, and I asked the service adviser to give me some information on future scheduled maintenance costs. He indicated that my next Service A at about 3 years and 30k miles would be the same costs as my one year service. When I check the attached document from the WIS, it looks to me that other services are also scheduled at that time and mileage:
  • Service 8. Rear axle: Change oil
  • Service 20: Automatic transmission: Change oil and oil filter
Other items are listed at 3 years, but at 46.5k miles:
  • Replace engine air filter
  • Replace spark plugs
I went through a learning curve to sift through all the codes in these documents, so it's quite possible that I'm misinterpreting something. I've also had other vehicles where the manufacturer gets a little carried away with the recommended service, and even the dealer doesn't do all the items at the recommended frequency. Is this an example of that practice?

I have generally done my own basic maintenance on all my vehicles, but I've been apprehensive with my first Mercedes. It's a bit of a different animal. I want to do all the stuff that should be done, but not do a bunch of silly extra stuff. Any ideas?

This is the last US service schedule I saw for US W213 models. Except for AMGs, the first trans service is at 60,000 miles Air filters, plugs and diff oil should be changed at 50,000 or 5 years.

Generally, the dealers do a good job of maintenance by the book.

Thank you for posting that document. I dug into the WIS some more and realized that I had the wrong overview sheet. There is another one specific to the US that matches the service intervals you describe.

Hi every one..
Just bought my self 2018 E200 with Sports Edition Pack in Australia, which is a really beautiful car.
Just trying to find the Service interval information and this is no where to be found.
I have tried to request for this information through the dealer and been told it's all electronic. (Which is kind of bull **** in my opinion)
They told me that, as usual, there are intervals of A and B and that's it. No information on what what gets done on A or B.
Any how, came across this post and found the documents attached.
I assume the first attachment is for countries with low dust levels and I am looking to follow this intervals. (As Australia Victoria is pretty much low in dust)

First of all, just like to confirm with you guys if any one know the none 4matic 9G transmission is 725.0?
And if it is, the transmission fluid and filter change is every 125K km? And there is no interval date to it? (for 725.0) Is this correct?
Lastly, does the non 4matic require rear axle change of oil? Does it even have one?

To be honest, I wouldn't be comfortable waiting till 125K KM to change the transmission oil and filter change. Would be more keen on around 80K KM?
Any suggestions would be greatly thankful.

The US doesn't get this engine, but transmission fluid changes are 60,000 miles for non-AMG models and 30,000 miles for AMGs. That's about 100,000 km. Modern designs and fluids being what they are, I'm comfortable following factory recommedations.

Not sure what your last question is. Yes, RWD cars have a rear axle. But fluid changes are only required for limited-slip rear axles. It's not really a 4matic issue. But I would suspect a standard RWD model doesn't have a limited-slip rear end.

Thanks for that Woover..
Yeh.. thats what I thought. RWD doesnt have limited-slip. So Can ignore that part..
That pretty much answers all the questions.
By the way, every thing in the car is awesome.. except that there is a rattle in the ceiling when the pano sunshade is open.
Might need to get it checked by the dealer.

I would say that the person you spoke with is either ignorant or lazy. It IS electronic, but he should be able to print a service interval sheet similar to what Whoover posted earlier. If the information is important to you, I would suggest talking to another person or another dealership, if available.

MBUSA has many documents online regarding maintenance, etc. Perhaps your national MB website has published similar documents.

Here is a link to some of the US documents.
