Mercedes MeConnect issue

Last week I parked at the airport for a short vacation. An hour after we were in the air, I opened Mercedes Me on my phone and it said that my car was unlocked and the window was open. Not a good feeling! Airport security would not check the car for me. Mercedes concierge service told me not to worry because if someone had broken into my car it would have set off the alarm🤪. She said it was likely an issue with the app being faulty or under maintenance. Fortunately, a relative was working near the airport and able to drive to the parking garage. The car was fine. I got home tonight and my app is still reporting an open window.

I’m wondering if others are having or have had issues with the app?

If your app connected, and indicated your car was unlocked with the window open, could you not have then locked it and closed the window from the app? And if that failed, it would be an indication that the information was not really available or correct?

Yes. This happens from time to time with MeConnect. Sometimes it even interferes with the starting of the engine in the rare case that I need to do so, as it thinks the car isn't locked. Most of us have learned to live with it, fortunately the rest of the car is fantastic, so it's easy to forgive the telematics issues. I'm not sure what the exact contracting situation is for telematics - it used to be Verizon, I'm not sure if Me Connect uses VZW for their telematics this time, but if it is, the issues will likely continue - not because of poor connection, mind you, but rather because of bad software and back-end capacity to handle it.

I believe you can lock it, but not close windows. However, the app was not responding to button pushes and I was concerned that the car was broken into and damaged. The car was in long-term parking and if you’ve seen the movie “Fargo”, bad things can happen there 😊.

Thanks. I guess it’s better to get false negatives than false positives. I agree that it is an excellent car.

So airport security wouldn’t check on the car. Lesson: park elsewhere. Use a private lot where the management will provide reasonable services.

Unless you can provide row number and parking stall number, I wouldn't expect High School Grad. parking "management" to provide this service, on either public or private lot (of any size).

DFW, I use Fast, Park, & Relax. When I enter the lot they tell me what row to park in and the van follows me. The van driver gives me a card showing the row and spot number. I give that card to the van driver on return and they drop me off at that spot. When I exit I get a newspaper and a bottle of water. $6.55 a day w/o a discount. Holidays I call ahead and make a reservation. Doesn’t work that way where you are?

Just now saw there is a new app called “Mercedes me 2020”

seems pretty much the same as the old one , only now you can close windows and it will alert in case of theft/ break in. (Doesn’t mention if this is for all cars or only the newer versions...)

why not update the existing one instead of having 2 apps..?

Is this the iPhone version? I don't find it for Android.

There are four, 5-story parking garages serving DFW Int'l Airport, and just as many "public" parking lots, a couple of them larger than some towns. Probably 10 or more "private" lots off airport property. I imagine some of these offer services you describe, but I wouldn't know, as I haven't seen $6.55 a day in more than a decade. It's $4 just to drive in and out of DFW property. It's cheaper to hire a properly trained, city-licensed and insured TAXI (no uber crap), or have a relative take me. Same situation at Dallas Love Field

We sometimes get softball-sized hail here. I've replaced 4 roofs on my home in the last 20 years. So I don't park any of my vehicles on an open lot longer than 3-4 hours without weather forecast approval. What's a newspaper?

I'd wait another year until the new 5G chips are used.
