Thanks for the love, guys. We appreciate it!
For those of you that don't want to use a programmer to change vehicle settings, we offer an in-line module that installs behind your radio. It electronically mimics the Eco button push, so that your vehicle automatically disables Eco mode each time you start the vehicle, but you can engage it any time you like by pressing the button yourself. You can also have it set to individual mode and select other dynamic settings as mentioned above, with no issues.
Here's what you'd need: https://www.midcityengineering.com/device/eco-off/

Can it turn off the ECO start/stop yet leave the other ECO features enabled?

That's interesting rmorin49 what symptom's did you have when your mounts had failed.

When the engine was idling in gear, R or D, I could feel a distinct vibration in the steering wheel and seat cushion. When I put the transmission in Park the vibration stopped or was greatly reduced. When I took it to my dealer the service advisor immediately said the engine and/or transmission mounts had failed. They tried replacing the transmission mount first. It helped but the vibration was still noticeable. They replaced both motor mounts and the vibration is completely gone. Now when stopped at a traffic light you can barely tell the engine is running. Very pleased.

That's very similar to what I'm experiencing, although mine's a V6 not an 8

I had this installed on mine the day I picked it up from the dealer. It does everything MidCity Eng says and gives the car owner full control and choice in how the car operates. Can't say enough good things about it.

Is installation something the average SL owner can do themselves? Any special tools or wiring needed?

It does the same thing as using the console button except it makes the setting sticky. To what other specific ECO features do you refer?

You referred to "other ECO features". I asked which other ECO features you meant.

That feature is active regardless of the setting of auto stop/start. The MidCityEngineering device only prevents you from having to push the button. Whatever modes you wish to select are up to you including Eco, Comfort, Sport or Individual. My car defaults to Comfort mode. You could set yours to default to Eco or the Individual mode for example.

On my 2018 E63S 8cyl/4cyl is disabled if I turn off Eco. I haven't been able to test to confirm, but I'm 90% sure sailing doesn't work with Eco off. Are you saying the MidCityEngineering will allow 8cyl/4cyl and sailing to continue to work with auto start/stop off?

You would simply select Eco mode to "sail" while on the highway. And if for some reason traffic comes to a halt on the highway the auto-stop would also be active. Then whenever you turn off the car and start the car again it would be in comfort mode and the auto-stop would automatically be deactivated. If you wish to "sail" you'd once again select Eco mode. The opposite of the present system, with this device you'd select Eco anytime you wish to sail. Otherwise your auto-stop function wouldn't be active.

In essence that's what I do now manually. I drive in sport mode (disables eco) and when I'm cruising I go back to comfort mode. Really would like to be able to turn off auto stop/start though ...

I actually used my Eco Mode to “On” but just once so far. Traffic jam on I-81 just south of the I-64 intersect. Traffic would go 30 or 40ft then stop for like 2mins. After a few of these, a light went off and I put on Eco Mode. Tell ya what, worked great for this. But, I can’t see many other opportunities that with a diesel I would use it.

I am ordering from Vladimir his OBD thumb to disable this. It actually is better than total disable, it actually remembers what position was at when the car was last turned off. Exactly the way Mercedes should have it programmed for us US drivers.

For anyone annoyed with disabling the start / stop feature each time, you can pick up one of our OBD programmers that retains "last mode" for this feature, you can take a look at our vehicle coverages HERE. Pick one up today!
