2017 E Class "Software Updates??
I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 Mercedes E300 last year (29,750 miles). Ever since I brought the car it gets brought back to the dealership for small issues that the dealership claims were due to a "Software Update".I have 31,750 miles as of right now. The first time I took the car in because the "open hood" sign kept popping up. Turns out the hood latch was loose. They fixed that. After a "software update" didn't fix the issue. Then the center touchpad was not responsive because it had cracks in it from the previous owner. That was replaced under warranty. Still have to try it out and see if the touchpad is responsive or not. The navigation screen was laggy they did a "software update" but it still seems a bit laggy. So, maybe that's how the navigation is? Last week I took the car to the dealerships again because the windows weren't functioning right. They would go all the way up then roll back down by themselves. I took it to the dealership and they said the had to update the software. The car is still at the dealership because during the "software update" they somehow messed up the side mirrors. They used to go down to show the wheels when I went into reverse. After the so-called "software update" the side view mirror goes all the way up. What I am worried about is, once the warranty is over (2022), will there still be software updates? How much will they cost?

About windows i think you should press and hold every button of them up and down + 5 seconds after they fully get down/up to do the "learning" procedure. After that the should work properly. The same is with side mirrors and going down after you switch to reverse. But the procedure is different. I'm not 100% sure but the steps are: 1) switch to reverse and hold on brakes with no movement; 2) select the side mirror from passenger side from driver's door switch; 3) adjust the passenger mirror 's desired position which you want to see when you put on reverse; 4) deselect side mirror from door's switch. After that you can switch to Drive and reach above 25 km/h to get mirror's position which you have when you driver normally. After that you can select Reverse and check is it going to desired position which you adjusted.
After warranty expired there will be soft updates but you have to pay for them. This is at my local dealer, at yours may be different.

See that’s what I was worried about. Why should we pay for software updates? Computers update for free lol. So why does the customer have to pay for updates on the cars computer module? That should be free. If it cost $200-$300 every two months just to update the software, I think I’ll have no choice but to get rid of the car. That’s just ridiculous.
