Angry 2017 E Class "Software Updates??

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 Mercedes E300 last year (29,750 miles). Ever since I brought the car it gets brought back to the dealership for small issues that the dealership claims were due to a "Software Update".I have 31,750 miles as of right now. The first time I took the car in because the "open hood" sign kept popping up. Turns out the hood latch was loose. They fixed that. After a "software update" didn't fix the issue. Then the center touchpad was not responsive because it had cracks in it from the previous owner. That was replaced under warranty. Still have to try it out and see if the touchpad is responsive or not. The navigation screen was laggy they did a "software update" but it still seems a bit laggy. So, maybe that's how the navigation is? Last week I took the car to the dealerships again because the windows weren't functioning right. They would go all the way up then roll back down by themselves. I took it to the dealership and they said the had to update the software. The car is still at the dealership because during the "software update" they somehow messed up the side mirrors. They used to go down to show the wheels when I went into reverse. After the so-called "software update" the side view mirror goes all the way up. What I am worried about is, once the warranty is over (2022), will there still be software updates? How much will they cost?

Hi there, i'm at the same situation with my 220d 2018 e class. My main problem was the battery and not working start-stop system. After 3 times at dealership (3 new batteries) now i'm ok. But after my first visit at local dealer (i bought my car from Germany pre-owned by local university head master) and the problems started. I had the problem with open-hood message. First time at dealer they updated software after 100 km, the problem came up again, they took the car and regulated the hood's arm (they told me that).. After another 300 km, again with message and "open" hood. Dealer replaced the latch with new one and voala 3000 km and no problem until last week when again i had pop-up message with open hood. I've noticed that left side of the hood was little upper in contrast of the right side of the hood, right above the headlamp. There was a very little clearance on the left side of the car. I've opened the hood and looked the hole system. On the front bar there are two rubber bushings with threads on the bottom. So with them you can regulate the height of the closing, there is no need of software updates or new latch mechanisms... Only simple adjustments with those rubber bushings.
About windows i think you should press and hold every button of them up and down + 5 seconds after they fully get down/up to do the "learning" procedure. After that the should work properly. The same is with side mirrors and going down after you switch to reverse. But the procedure is different. I'm not 100% sure but the steps are: 1) switch to reverse and hold on brakes with no movement; 2) select the side mirror from passenger side from driver's door switch; 3) adjust the passenger mirror 's desired position which you want to see when you put on reverse; 4) deselect side mirror from door's switch. After that you can switch to Drive and reach above 25 km/h to get mirror's position which you have when you driver normally. After that you can select Reverse and check is it going to desired position which you adjusted.
After warranty expired there will be soft updates but you have to pay for them. This is at my local dealer, at yours may be different.

See that’s what I was worried about. Why should we pay for software updates? Computers update for free lol. So why does the customer have to pay for updates on the cars computer module? That should be free. If it cost $200-$300 every two months just to update the software, I think I’ll have no choice but to get rid of the car. That’s just ridiculous.

I bought my 2017 E300 back in March. Navigation for me dosnt lag, but when adjusting the volume, the volume bar which appears is slow as hell. The window issue is a common issue, my passenger side sometimes come back down half way after I use one-touch to close the window all the way. For the side mirror to go down, you need to have the right mirror selected using the controls next to the window switches which controls the angle of the mirror. Just set it to the passenger side, and put the car in reverse, it will point to the ground. I had a lot of little issues which I was able to get repaired under warranty. I am now out of warranty so crossing my fingers.

There are threads here that tell how to re-calibrate the window opening/closing.

Well, I just got the car back from the dealership and the windows seem fine after the update. Got a new center touchpad under warranty (the old one was cracked). The bumper to bumper warranty expires Feb 2021. The CPO ends in 2022. So, I've got some time still

My windows would do the same thing. I googled it and found an answer that I was able to do in minutes. It had nothing to do with a software update. It's actually a safety feature that MB included so that fingers/objects didn't get stuck in a closing window. The sensitivity needs to be reset. And it works perfectly fine after wards. I wish I would've seen your post earlier. Glad you fixed it!

To be reset, you mean that you have to re-calibrate the windows opening/ closing function or something else?
