Transmission fluid change

When are you supposed to change the transmission fluid? The dealership said the first transmission fluid change is done at 30k, the second one is at 90k and the third one is at 120k miles. I thought it was every 50k-60k miles. At least that's what it is for my BMW, Toyota, and Honda.

Check your owner's manual and be guided by it.

Mercedes spends millions of dollars designing engines and pays engineers hefty salaries to determine what is necessary for your car.

So the question you must ask yourself: Who knows what is necessary for your car: the engineers who manufactured your transmission of the service advisor?

I will always go with the engineers!

Where did you get that from? Does the maintenance vary by dealership? My service advisor pulled out a Mercedes Scheduled service and showed me it says to change the fluid at 30k, 90k, and then 120k. 30k seems way too early. Maybe 40k.

Did you look carefully? The E63S has a 30,000 mile transmission oil interval but all other engines are 60,000 (at least for 2018 and 2019 models). Either they changed that for 2020 or your SA failed to note "M177 engine only." Check again.

Yeh.. I think it kind of varies between the countries.
For Australian spec, I was advised to use the AP00.20-P-1228XB which translates to (Countries with low dust levels)
It says for 725.0, change the oil and the oil filter at 125,000km. Doesn't even have the year on it.
I plan to change it at 6th year service as I don't really think I will hit 125,000km even passing 10years mark.

But if you do have the 725.092/096 with code M005 (4MATIC) (I'de imagine this is E63 tranny?) needs to be changed every 50,000km/3years.

I'll double-check the service schedule. The SA sent them to me.

The attached document shows the service schedule for my E300. I think I am just going to take a look at the owner's manual. But, it probably states the same thing.

274 engine / 725 transmission, MBUSA "required" workshop info. Doc in post 8 above appears to be dealer “recommended services” marketing brochure.

Sometimes it really makes me laugh.. As if the dealer knows better than the engineers who actually designed the cars.. hmm...

If this document is Mercedes schedule maintenance, then the dealership didn't do the brake fluid flush during CPO checklist. They didn't even do the simple things like changing the oil or filters during the CPO checklist. I had them do it a day after I brought the car home and took a look at the oil dipstick and filters. On the Doc, it says "brake fluid every 20k miles/2years". I brought the car when it was two years old and had 29,795 miles.

Yep, your link to the MB Maintenance Schedule shows 60k. Your dealer's "Preferred" schedule is a rip-off.

Yup, I was surprised because I am used to 60k for transmission fluid change. Only for my Honda, it says to change the CVT fluid every 50k miles. It's a CVT so... But on the BMW and Toyota, it says every 60k miles to do the transmission fluid. For the BMW @60k, it also says to do both differentials and the transfer case. So for the Mercedes @60k, I'll get both diffs done and the transfer case along with the transmission fluid. Coolant and spark plug @50 and Oil change every 5k/6 months. I get oil for free technically.

6 year /60k. I did mine at 30k anyways as I too bought a cpo a year ago.

I had them drain and fill the front and rear diffs while at it.

@moosaud1998 Either your dealer SA lied about, or didn't know, the correct service interval. Both equally troublesome. Can you use another dealer? This establishment doesn't appear to know what they are doing. Common in the M-B dealer network, unfortunately.

here in saudi, the debate is ongoing about this issue, the MB dealership in Saudi told me to change it by 60K Km with spark plugs and air filters . Most people advise me to follow it.

As preventive maintenance from my side, I replaced all of them by 70K Km and the time belt too
