W214, The Coming E Class

Does anyone know when MB forsees introducing the next iteration of the E class.
I think it will happen in 2023 as a 2024 model
but it’s just a guess. I sure hope the price increase that will invariably come with the new model doesn’t mirror the new “S” class whose base price increased by 15%.

i'm really looking forward to the electric E-class, also for 2023/2024 i believe
apparently it won't be completely the same as the "regular" one ...?

I'd like to see the EQ class introduced in 2023/2024. I had pre-ordered an EQC 400 via my local dealer, but MB didn't accept it and withdrew the EQC 400 from the market.

As compared to my 2019 E450, the present 2021 E450 MSRP is less than the 2019 with the same equipment.

I also believe that the present I6 engine is the last ICE that Mercedes will be making. It will be refined and tweaked, but no replacement. Going forward all R&D dollars will be going to electric.

~6t USD of fiscal stimulus suggests that we should all wish that the price increase is "only" +15pct in 2-3 years. 😉

The W214 will probably not include 2 door versions , as has been widely reported , the coupes and cabriolets only have another year or two of life before they are laid to rest in favor of SUV's !

I hope not. There used to be so many convertibles. There are so few now.

I guess that's the point, very few people are purchasing convertibles and coupes , whereas SUV sales are soaring and Mercedes has to trim their fleet to a reasonable number . I believe this has already happened with the S Class and there have been many reports that the C and E classes will suffer the same fate over the next year or two .

Once there was the BMW 3, 5, 7 series and the X5:

Today there are the BMW 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 series and X1, X3, X5, X7 and GT models.

I would seem that the number of models has tripled while sales have increased maybe 20%.

This is truly a case of cannibalizing your own!

There are no affordable convertibles. If you don’t want a camaro, or Mustang or Miata. It’s too bad.

I believe there is also an 8 series. Plus all the M variations. Plus the Z4.

If you really want a cabrio, you should go ahead, the fate of the C/E-coupe/cab are in danger of not receiving replacements.

Dealer won’t come off list price. Plus at least a 6 month wait.

The preview of the new C class (W206) reports that there will be no coupe or convertible. Not a stretch to assume that W214 may also not have these trims.

Rumor is a "CLE" coupe will merge the C and E into one, similar to say the old CLK, of course, nothing has been confirmed nor spied yet though. It seems coupes and verts that aren't six-figures are dying.

I’d be careful wishing for a new model. The C-class is moving towards a mini E-class and the CLA is taking the C-class size or at least close to it. There are pretty big shifts that are occurring with Mercedes. The E class could move up scale and become closer to an S class. They might could scrap the E53 model and leave that only for the AMG GT. The prices get very close if you get a fully loaded 53. I know change us good but if the up scaling effects the E it might out price some of us. Options might eventually become standard.

You are of course correct, I am prepared for when the Fit hits the Sham. Can you say “AUDI”!

Don’t look now, but with the way the government is printing money, as fast as the presses can run, in pure dollars, not adjusted for the inevitable inflation, I predict huge price increases across the board.

The E Class cabriolets are lovely cars. I prefer my SL, but you can no longer order a new one, as we wait for the new model, which will lose the wonderful retractable hardtop and will start in the six figures. I would highly recommend getting an E Cab now, if you really want a great, top down cruiser. Nothing like a convertible on a beautiful, sunny day!
