E180 2019
Question A35 AMG vs. E200 Coupe AMG Line

Hello everyone, so basically I have now a mercedes-benz E180 (W213) and this car comes with a very weak motor (156hp) and I was looking forward to upgrade it to something that is more sporty.

I am considering the E200 Coupe AMG Line 2020 because it the same pretty interior and big space of my bar but with a more sharp look and somehow a stronger motor (197hp), but with a price tag of 76,000 Euro.
I am also considering the AMG A35 2020 4MATIC because it is a real AMG car with a much better motor (306hp) and brakes and everything but at the end of the day it is an A-Class so it is much smaller and less prestigious, but it has a lesser price tag of 58,700 Euro.

so I am not sure if I going to the A-Class AMG will be a downgrade or an upgrade at this point keeping in mind I'll get 109 extra horse power and I'll save abt 173000 Euro.
waiting for your recommendations.

I wouldnt really compare those cars, the A class is in my eyes not really a mercedes (alot of Renault collaboration) and the 35 "AMG" arent amg engines, they are just factory tuned m264s not hand built engines. You could try with an ecu tune on your e180 to start eith, I did a tune on my E200 and it made a nice difference. Otherwise I would recommend you to consider a used e400 or something in those lines, Its a difference of 40 hp between your e180 and e200, it wont make a world of difference.

I think the same way about A-Class in general specially as it is a FWD but in this case it is an AMG and it is AWD with more hp and lesser price.
and I am comparing apples with oranges here as both are sporty cars (E Coupe and A AMG) that were made to be fast and sleek- looking.

I don't really like my E180 as a sedan and it was avant-garde package so it doesn't have all the fancy looking sporty additions so I feel the coupe with the night package will be a good extra to my car in terms of sportiness.

I would like to know more about your tune tho and what was the difference and did the warranty have any problems with it or so?

I have an amg line with night package and it does literally nothing for sportiness, it just looks better. What im saying is that its not worth taking such a financial hit by selling and buying a new car for such a lateral move.

The tune made the car more responsive and it feels punchier, especially at higher revs. It was very noticable on country roads where overtakes are much easier and less sketchy. It didnt make my car an amg, but it made it quicker. For the warranty I dont care, mercedes only gives 2 year warranty which is up for me. I know mercedes frown upon remapping cars so do it at your own risk, but I know the e200 is a detuned engine so the remap is essentially bringing it back up

also, where do you live? 76000 euros for an e200 is outrageous, where I live you will get a good spec e450 for that price (before bargaining)

there's nothing wrong with an A class, it just isn't a real mercedes
not the engine, nor the build quality

.
It is a tiny front wheel drive vehicle. That's a huge minus.

E200, C250 CGI
I've driven the A class recently as a loaner and it is world apart from the E.
To be honest.. It really just comes down to the size. Do you really need all the space that E offers?
In my case, I would have actually gone for C43 instead of E200 if I didn't need all that space. It was around the same price mark.
I'm not entirely too sure why you would go all the way down to A class, but why don't you look at C class instead? In my opinion, it is a much better build and quality.
