Camera Software Update Recall

Camera Software Update Recall
Hi,
incase anyone cares there is a recall for the backup camera software for the w213 (I believe other models as well),
It’s my understanding that the issue is that while in reverse gear you could potentially change something on the display unit like switch to gps or CarPlay and lose the rear view camera video making it unsafe to reverse.
I think this was an issue with Canadian safety standards not sure if it was recalled in other regions.

I believe recall notices are being sent. I agree that it doesn’t seem like a major safety issue but it’s sort of annoying when you are backing up and press a button and lose the backup camera.

I am not able to switch away from rear camera view when in R. The screen even remains in that view after shifting into D until reaching ?? mph. I show only the eCall recall on MBUSA and NHTSA sites.

Didn't the requirement for ALL new vehicles sold in the US from 2016 on, needed to have a back up camera? If the camera fails to work and this is the law then no wonder there is a recall notice.
Just looked it up and it was as of May 2018 all new cars needed to have a back up camera.

Got the car back and confirm this is the update.
before if I was reversing I could go to Sirius etc and I would lose the back up cam. I would have to go to park and then back to reverse to get it back.
now it’s locked on the rear view if I press any buttons I get a beep

WHAT IS THE ISSUE?
Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on certain CLA, GLA, GLE, GLS, SLC, GT, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, B-Class, GLC, CLS, and G-Class (platforms 117, 156, 166, 292, 172, 190, 290, 205, 213, 238, 217, 222, 231, 246, 253, 257, 463) vehicles the variant coding of the head unit might not meet specifications. If the reverse gear is selected, the rearview camera image in the central display might no longer be displayed due to an active operation of other functions of the central display. In this case, the local legal requirements of CMVSS 111 might not be met. Furthermore, if the rearview camera image is unavailable, the driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up may be impaired. This could increase the risk of a crash. The customer will not receive an advance warning due to the nature of the failure mechanism. There are no specific precautions to be taken with respect to the subject issue until the corrective measures are implemented. As a precautionary measure, Mercedes-Benz AG, via its Mercedes-Benz service partners, will update the variant coding of the head unit on the affected vehicles.
WHAT IS THE CONCERN?
