As many of you know the W213 in many models do not have a cigarette lighter up front. This sucks because I can’t use a traditional radar detector. I’d have to wire it to the fuse box.
anyone have a good set up? And what detector do you have?
My U.S. spec W213 (2020 E450) also lacks a cigarette lighter socket in the front console. However, in the right footwell on the right side of the center console is a 12V socket, which uses a similar socket as that of a cigarette lighter.

you sir are a life saver! Is there any way to route the wires so they’re unnoticeable?

I can't help much with that. Perhaps someone else has expertise in this area. There have been other posts in this forum from people who routed radar detector wiring along the roof line, then behind the A-pillar, and then down to the dashboard area or a fuse box.

Hi, I would recommend you drop the plate in the passenger footwell under the glovebox. This will give you access to the back of the cigarette lighter plug. Some radar detectors come with a wire-in harness, which has splice connectors, inline fuse, and are long enough. If your radar detector did not come with a kit like this you can buy them online or go to the car parts store and buy some wire and splice connectors.
Splice the radar detector wire into the wiring going to the back of the cigarette lighter (+ to +. - to -), and then you can route the wire from under the glove box, between side of dash and doorjam. Then, using some rounded plastic tool, gently start pushing the wire between the top of the dashboard and the A-pillar. Once you get to the windshield, make a sharp turn and tuck the wire between windshield and behind the A-pillar cover, going all the way to the mirror console. Gently pushing the wire behind the A-pillar cover and the front of the headliner, you will make it completely disappear.
I found this a few weeks ago when searching for hardwire solutions on here. It's not my doc, but it is super handy I tried for days to find a switched or timed out power supply in the mirror housing so I could use a mirror tap install, but no luck. There are a number of posts on here saying nothing is switched in the mirror or sun visor lights, but I couldn't believe it... I was wrong.
I'll be installing my 360max this weekend, using the instructions attached w/ wire taps to the cig lighter in the footwell.

Thank you for the PDF, I wish it was that simple. I unfortunately do not have it in the footwell.. Looks like my only option is to tap it into a fuse box which sucks. I was hoping it would have been as simple as the document you gave me.
I didn't have the 12V in the footwell either so I just went to a local guy who charged me $100 to hardwire it to my ignition wire. Used the harness from Best Buy and the mount was from Blend Mount but it was actually for my old 2014 Cadillac CTS that just happened to fit on this as well.

I looked at Amazon. There is an adapter that goes from usb to 12v. I don’t know how it works. Don’t need it yet.

Do you have a link or a model/brand for the mount? I want to do the same

https://blendmount.com/ is the website. I used one for. 2014 Cadillac CTS. Make sure you have the spacing for it though as others on here don’t have the same style mirror to allow it
Does the 12V in the passenger footwell continue to receive power once the car is off? I’m planning on using an external battery to connect my dashcam but the external battery will need to be recharged and the easiest way is by plugging it into the 12V socket. I’d hate to see a dead battery if I leave the external battery connected to the 12V socket overnight.

from what I’ve read, there is no fused power to be used Down there but I could be mistaken. I pulled the dash down and tapped into the ignition.

The cigarette lighter socket under the glove box is "switched power" and it will only be ON when ignition is ON. I have a radar detector wired to the back of it.

I didn’t have a cigarette lighter down there. I have seen others talk about it though.
