Typical MB Retailer Labor Rate?

Hi All,

I was curious to see what the typical MB dealer labor rate is in the service department. I have a few accessories to have installed and was wondering what that will look like. Thanks.

Call your dealer Scve Dept and ask. They will tell you.

I suspect the actual rate is based on regional characteristics... On the west coast, technicians need a lot more money for everything from houses to groceries. So the west coast labor rate will not be the same (likely much higher) than in the midwest.

Add to this whatever the dealer feels he can soak for profit. Cities with 5-6 dealers may be more willing to compete with each other than a single dealer with a market area all to his own.

Tell us where you are, and maybe someone in your area will respond.

Right, highly dependent on the region. Out here on the West Coast with about 8 dealers within 20 miles the dealer service rates are about what a good indy charges around here. There's not much to be saved in the labor rate. The money is in the overpriced OEM parts. I recommend for anything outside scheduled maintenance and warranty work find yourself a good indy shop that primarily does German cars. The hourly labor rate may not be much lower, but they may do the work in less time. Dealership work based on standardized work items. Indies do as well, but I generally found that the total labor cost at my indy ends up being less, because they book less time for the job. I do pretty much all my wear and tear stuff as well as aftermarket installations at my indy, unless my car is at the dealership for regular service or warranty work already and I can save myself a trip.

LOL, I should have looked first. My bad.

By "fleuger" I'm guessing you might live around Pflugerville... I worked at Dell in Round Rock for a time.

No problem! No, I have a pilot's license and fleuger is German for pilot. I'm actually in Round Rock, about 8 miles from the Dell Campus.

Sorry, but Fleuger is gibberish in German. Pilot is Pilot (male) or Pilotin (female) in German. Same spelling (male at least, different pronunciation). What you may have meant is Flieger, which means Aviator.

Correct, Flieger = Pilot/Flyer and Flugzeug = aircraft so my title is a mix of those two into Fleuger99.

. You could make it Flüger, alternate spelling Flueger (ue instead of eu). Means airplane in Swiss German .
