17 inch rims on E350e?

Hi guys.

I own 2018 E350e. I am currently riding with the stock 18 inches which I do not like at all as design and want to change it to 17 inches, but my old pair of rims didnt fit the brake calipers for 1 mm or so and I believe it might be because of the specific design of the rim (and of course because of the bigger caliper size).
Have anyone tried 17`s on E350e? I know it is not by the book and they are not 'officially supported' as size for this exact model, but I want to improve my ride quality and fit cheaper tire sizes. Especially for winter tires for the back 18s which should be 275/40 the tire selection in my home country is super limited with literally just a couple of models of tires for this size and they cost twice as premium 18/245/45 and thrice as premium 17/225/55 (which is the official tire size for w213 for 17 inches). Thanks for any opinions.

Regards,
Hristo

Unfortunately it will not fit. I have E350 e also and have thought same thing like you but for winter wheels. Our car has bigger brake caliper in front than E200 or E220, that's ruled out smaller wheels than 18 inches.

If you want the hassle changing between summer set and winter set then I would recommend you to find cheap winter wheels in 18 inches with square setup. Our staggered setup is annoying cause the rear tires are expensive and hard to get.

I don't know where do you live but if you live in EU there is an online shop from Germany who sells tires all over EU compared to Finland, it is definitely cheaper even if we count installation cost at local workshop.

Mercedes E220d AMG Line Estate (S213) and Mercedes E220d AMG Line Cabriolet (A238)
Normally it will all depend if it is an AMG Line car (Sports Line in the US) as these have Brembo Fixed Caliper with drilled brake discs and not the ATE Floating Caliper with solid disks at the front (both have the same size rear brakes). Air suspension makes not differences, its all about AMG Exterior Pack being fitted.; if this package is specified then you have to have 18"s as the caliper is bigger.

Not sure about the "e" cars as these have regenerative braking(?) so might require 18" wheels.

Thanks mate. As for the e for E350e - this is the plugin hybrid version of the E class - it is ~200kg heavier than the standard E class and therefore the brakes are bigger and the rear tires are larger by default to sustain the battery weight - as I have mentioned they are 275/40 for 18`s - which is quite unordinary size (hard to find and expensive to buy ).

in Finland they have website such as rengas-online.com or 123rengas.fi, but actually behind them there is this company Delti AG. They advertised almost 10 different Finnish websites and their price is similar.

There is also some Estonian online tire shop such as rehvid ou or 1001renkaat.com they also offer competitive price and at least in Finland they got good reviews.

Buying tires in Finland is expensive as hell. No wonder many Finnish people bring their business to Estonia or sometimes Sweden.

Well the size is might not be ordinary but for rear wheel drive car, staggered setup works better for summer at least.

I have modified some of my dad's BMW and helped my friends modified their cars, most of Mercs and BMW always got recommendation to have staggered setup as most of them RWD.

On my friend's W202 C230 Kompressor 1997, he installed Carlsson Evo 1/6 19x8,5 and 19x10. Which at that time (around year 2000) was really rare to have that wide wheels on rear wheel especially small car like C Class.
