Which looks like an A-Class, at least the W214 should be longer than the W213 so more comfortable for the passengers.

Thanks for the post!

Just my $.02: (and I could be 100% wrong)

With the EQE do not be surprised if this 6th generation never reaches us. Mercedes has made a commitment to being a BEV manufacturer and a new 6th generation E Class is contrary to their stated goals. I think a lot will depend on demand for the EQE and its pricing.

Being that the W214 will be released in 2023, it still adheres to their plan. They will still have ICE cars beyond 2025, however development of ICE will stop at that point. These cars run on 7-year cycles so the new E is designed to last until 2030.

MB has fallen in the trap of slanting the headlights to make the vehicle appear to be sinister, mean and dangerous. It is a throughly UNACCEPTABLE design direction IMO.
It is NOT an inviting, attractive or sensible design form. Looking sinister and mean is a turn off and abusive to an observer. Negative emotions are NEVER an attribute.

Unfortunately I'm over it. Their design language all looks the same anymore. Unless you go into the higher line one-off AMG's.

Maybe to you, but the buying public seems to like it, the AMG-Line designs outsell traditional luxury-line designs. Even the new 4-Series and its gargantuan grill are selling.

The buying public will buy anything with a luxury brand attached. This is proven in watches, cars, handbags, etc. as they are all selling largely due to brand influence through SM. Most people don't even know what AMG stands for.

That's my point, but even still while the buying public doesn't know much about a car or brand, they still preferred and bought the aggressive design of AMG-Line cars over traditionally styled Luxury Packages. People may not know much about cars, or may be badge ******, but design is still one of the larger aspects of sales.

I’m right there with you. I hate aggressive, sinister looking vehicles and find beautiful, lovely, elegant vehicles much more appealing. That said, I’m an old guy and MB & other makers don’t give a hoot what I think anymore. Look at most anything these days and it all seems to be designed to be IN YOUR FACE, radical, oversized, overpowered and just plain hideous, if you ask me.
Things of beauty are few and far between these days, in my humble opinion. Most auto designers are sheep, following everyone else over the “Cliff on No Imagination.”

Other than “Christine” I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a sinister looking car. Shrugs

Now the Aztec was “abusive”. Lol

I’d say this piece of junk fits the bill.

So now Mercedes is following the look of Hyundai. Very disappointing.

Some fan made renders but unlikely (as always) to look like this:
https://www.mercedes-fans.de/magazin...w214-aus.18340
It is also unlikely to get a light bar being a non EQ model.

Following, really? When was the last time that Mercedes was a follower? Sad times indeed.

There's so much camo on this car and you're already calling it a Hyundai Also if anything, this will be a very conservative evolution of the W213's styling if the W206 and W223 have shown us anything. Nothing Hyundai about it.

They don't need camo, will likely be a larger 206/smaller 223. MB designs are quite predictable and monotonous today. I'm sure they will use the Tesla inspired interior. They should add the hypersceen to the new E.

That's my point, it will look like an evolution of the current 213, like the 206 is of the 205, and the 223 of the 222, predictable and not like a Hyundai at all, unlike maybe some of the BMW's coming out which are using Hyundai's split headlight design or Audi (which Hyundai actually stole from them first, and poached their designer).

I get that people love to use Hyundai as an insult (even though its no longer the 90's and Hyundai's are actually really nice cars now), but I mean c'mon, Hyundai's look like this, far from any current MB.

As is the cycle, people will complain endlessly with or without camo and even through the reveal or product lifecycle, and then when the next model comes they will moan about how they prefer the current one that they once complained about in the same way. Its like that on every forum.

I think Hyundai has done a hell of a job. Good looking lineup, although I would never consider one. Kudos to them.

As for Mercedes, unless you look at EV or AMG only offerings everything looks the same and mundane. Boring and predictable, hence why AMG trim packages are so popular. Some models simply need it just to be palatable. Most modern MB reference don't age well. Look at how many older Mercedes entry level and SUV's look like dogs, pretty much all their SUV offerings age terribly. Nothing new that people are critical at first, I get that but regardless I don't think MB is nearly as attractive as they once were. No longer a timeless design, just trendy and current for the time. The interiors have really been their strong point as people seem to really like that part. Tesla interior excluded.
