Same here... picked our E450 All Terrain Thursday. The screens were both smaller, missing augmented reality nav, massaging seats, and the foot opener for the rear hatch. The dealer would not believe the screens were smaller until we measured them alongside another E class in the showroom. He claimed MB gave them no heads-up about the situation. They are ordering our car again and will do an even swap with this one upon arrival. I have already noticed the smaller screen does not perform some of the full size screen functions. When I did my test drive back in June, I saw speed limit signs on the screen and I was able to set the driver side to full screen NAV. Not on this new one... bummed.
Are you saying that the physical size of the screen is smaller (from the photo is looks the same size as the one on my E450) or that the image is smaller and some of the information that previously appeared, for example speed limit, or second screen - drivers side on left side (I also have both on my screen as well) is missing? Or image is the same size, it looks the same as on my E450, or images and/or information is missing? My first impression is that the screen is physically the same size, the mages are the same size, but information is missing. Please advise.
My E450 also has the foot opener on my trunk. (Extra cost option). Until it had been mentioned that it is deleted on the 2022 because of chip shortage, I did not realize how often I use it. Confirms the old saying if you never had something, you do not miss it, but if you had something and it is taken away, you really miss it.
More and more, when my lease on my 2019 ends, I am inclined to just buy my E450 and keep it - especially with the problems with the 48v system: have those battery problems actually been solved?

WOW! Disappointing.
I just checked the screen on my E450: The right side of the screen is beyond the last air vent: the picture above shows the screen to the left of the right/outside of the vent. Definitely smaller.
Thanks for posting!

Best to get out a tape measure to be sure. Butt his very useful information. It's one thing having a properly scaled smaller screen, and another if isn't showing stuff.
I'm going to have to go to a dealer and measure a couple times. What a drag.I want to know exactly what I'm getting into.

that’s the entire glass piece, not the individual screens inside. For the previous years, the screens were 12.3 inches from corner to corner (the king diagonal). These smaller screens are 10.25 inches, with quite a bit more bezel to the left and right and top and bottom and between them.

If that is the case, same size screen but smaller images, that is like looking at an 82" TV screen with big black bars on the top and side! Defeats the entire purpose of a large screen.

So the image is smaller, has less information and in the final analysis it looks like an 82 inch screen with big black bars around the image. That is terrible and as I posted defeats the purpose of a big glass screen, i.e., to give you big images not small ones!
This is not even bait and switch: most manufacturers are increasing the size of their screens and images. Mercedes is going backwards - but at no price reduction!

Right. The glass mounting plate is apparently 28" from his measurement. It's the actual display size that we need, so it needs to be turned on with the entire display illumined in some way, in order to get an accurate measurment.
But some of these descriptions of missing data are very disturbing. This implies defective merchandise,

I will posts photo of my screen with measurements.

But if data is missing it's defective. From the description it doesn't scale correctly. This would be a defect no?
I might be ok with a smaller screen, but in no way will I accept a screen that's not scaling exactly like the larger one. So we need to get this straight. A lot of orders out there.
(I need to get clarity on this, as it doesn't even seem possible that it doesn't scale).

Here are pictures from the screen of my 2019 E450. The overall size of the glass screen is 28 inches. Images inside the screen are about 12. As to height it takes up most of the screen.
Hope this helps others.

I know that the E-Class' standard screen is the one with the analog speedometer on the left...

I honestly don't get it, not like the bigger screen requires more chips (I don't think?) Is Mercedes really putting the screens used as standard on the A-Class (prior to the multimedia package) for some reason? Someone take apart their screen that has the much thicker bezels and see if it has the part number from the A-Class. (Well, don't actually do it if you don't have an extra one laying around).

From the above posts, it is obvious that MB software was not written with scaling in mind, thus something (text and icons) are not shown within the physical screen.
I think, even with software automatic scaling, it will still not be good because:-
a. text font size will be smaller and harder to read. This could be potentially a safety issue.
b. font and icons were designed to shown in a specific size. If they are scaled smaller, they could be not as crisp and will look slightly blurry. This is just unacceptable as well.
Personally, I do not mind having an all mechanical instrument cluster. I am equally happy to have a mechanical speedometer, trip odometer...etc

But I could wrong: It has been about a month since I spoke to my dealer when he told me the credit was for the trunk opening feature.
