New E450 missing equipment
Good morning,
I picked up my new E450 yesterday and there was a $150 credit for D8K Missing Standard Widescreen Cockpit.
I notice the text (or image) on the screen doesn't completely fill the screen on the right side. The dealer can't tell me if this is a software thing that can be fixed later or they actually
installed a smaller right side screen. Either way, at this point i'm happy to have received the car.
Thanks.

It's crazy how little information there is about the "state" of the cars & exact reasons of delay
I've asked my dealer to send me the VIN as soon as it's available,
so u can check it letter by letter against the configuration/proposal sheet on which basis i signed the lease.

Thanks for this,
So this is the first post I have come across of it actually happening. They give you $150 credit for a reduction of screen size (that is also buggy?). 'D8K Missing Standard Widescreen Cockpit' involves the widescreen, when I Google it, and there are other posts related to this.
Dealer lots are empty so these will sell. If some one doesn't accept an order so what?. In effect the ordering system is not working correctly. I need to adjust to this. My order will arrive around April.
I may just order another model I was looking at and then refuse delivery on one. Of course I wouldn't do this under normal circumstances. I'll have to use another dealer.

2014 Mercedes E350 4matic Wagon, 2018 Fiat 124 Spyder Lusso manual, 2005 Acura TSX manual
All current US market 2022 E350/450 sedan and wagon have this. Both the drivers screen and main display are 10.25 inches instead of 12.3. More bezel. I believe it’s the screens under the glass, not just soft wear.
Don’t take delivery if you’re unhappy with that. It’s super frustrating and was poorly communicated. HOWEVER understand someone else will come in and buy the car, probably at MSRP.

Hi Our E450 is going to build middle of February ordered the Nappa leather so there is a P22 luxury interior and P82 citybeam edition on the order sheet anybody know what that is. I seen a E 350 with a raised star on hood could that be part of it or maybe owner put it on.Thanks

Who knows what I'll do when the time comes. I don't resell these, so there's that. A lease is an option. But the comment that not all the text fits on the smaller screen doesn't inspire me. Its going to be very interesting these next few months.

Maybe this is why Americans prefer to buy their cars off the lot. Its right there, you can inspect it, test it, and know exactly what you are getting. But this MB routine is not completely new. In 2012 I was told the wagon may or may not come with a four disc charger. If you get the single charger you get a $450 credit. Glad I am not in the market.

Sorry, but all this "build" "delete" stuff strikes me as nothing but sheer arrogance either on part of the dealer or Mercedes. I was in retail for over 40 years and can tell you that if customer walked in and wanted to spend $70,000 plus - there was not much we wouldn't do to make sure they were happy and would certainly communicate ANY issue that was not to their specification. To some maybe $70,000 is not a lot of money, but I for 1 know that a dime is expensive if all you have is a quarter.
I hope that I NEVER get that jaded.

It's what the market will bear. Lots are empty, people will buy and be grateful. Lots are so empty you would think they are closed down for good.
Just be glad you are out of it.

But starting out in retail on the selling floor with a #2 pencil and sales checks with carbon paper to buying online, have had my share of tornado's: floods & Blizzards. Customers and staff dropping dead in the store - sure, armed robbery - absolutely
Pandemic is not an automatic excuse for poor business practices.

The weird thing is that that it's very random. it has nothing do do with the model or country.
My dealer gets cars that are exactly as ordered, as well as cars that are missing options (and what is missing is random as well)
same goes for delivery: some cars hardly have any delay, others take months.
I'm lucky i guess because although my car had a 5 month delay, it gets to the dealer his week EXACTLY as I ordered it.
Maybe because it's a lease (through Mercedes) and they know that giving a cashback on missing options does not interest me ...?

My dealer reports that my E450 is due to arrive in early February. He stated that there have been no deletions and the two 12" monitor screens will be in the vehicle.
If for some reason the car is missing key options, I will pass on the vehicle. The pandemic insanity has made purchasing. car very complicated and joyless.

Not random at all. It simply depends on if a part is available on the assembly line when a given vehicle is built. Parts availability fluctuates through out the day as parts are delivered similar to availability at your local grocery store.

Same here... picked our E450 All Terrain Thursday. The screens were both smaller, missing augmented reality nav, massaging seats, and the foot opener for the rear hatch. The dealer would not believe the screens were smaller until we measured them alongside another E class in the showroom. He claimed MB gave them no heads-up about the situation. They are ordering our car again and will do an even swap with this one upon arrival. I have already noticed the smaller screen does not perform some of the full size screen functions. When I did my test drive back in June, I saw speed limit signs on the screen and I was able to set the driver side to full screen NAV. Not on this new one... bummed.
