W213 how to display voltage

I've got a 2017 E400 that occasionally does not start. It's usually after a day or 2 of sitting, but I've had it sit for weeks and it starts fine. This is totally intermittent. No real pattern. The first time it happened I boosted the car. The second time it was in my garage with the hood to the front so I used the battery charger. Now this is the weird thing, the charger went to 5 amps and stayed there for 30 seconds or so and then dropped to zero. I then went and tried to start it and it started. With only a 30 second charge. The car started all winter with minus 20 temps no problem so I don't think this is a battery issue. I'm not sure what it is, but it would a whole lot easier to diagnose if I could display the voltage when this happens. I can display it on my 08 ML before starting so I'm sure there is a hidden menu somewhere just like on the ML. I can see the voltage after the car starts on one of the menus, but as soon as the vehicle is off this is not available.

Thanks for any help.

If your 2017 battery is original, its telling you that it is dying. To read battery voltage, just say engine date or go to car menu setting, but accessory has to be on.

You mean you say "engine date" and the car knows what to display? Which menu do you find it in? And what do you mean that accessory has to on? Is that the first press of the power button without pressing the brake?

Thanks for your help.

On my car, 2019 E300, activate voice command and say engine data or push the car menu button next to TEL button in center console, right click, then dynamic select and engine data. Accessory mode push start button twice, no brakes.

Apparently a typo — use the voice command "ENGINE DATA," not "engine date."

I was unable to use the voice command, but I was able to find the menu. The mistake I made originally was that when I turned the engine off it kicked my out of the display, but pressing the power button twice will allow me to get into this menu. Perhaps I need to try the voice command when I press the power button twice as well. I'll try that later.

Thanks so much for everyone's help.

I usually use my Mercedes Me Connect app to determine the charge level in my battery. In the Service tab, the starter battery should indicate charged. When it indicates partially charged, the battery is usually at about 70% to 75% charged and tells me I should either drive the car or put it on a charger.

2017 didn't support apps on Canadian models. After 2019 they have these feature. Too bad, that would have been helpful. But in the end I'm able to display it although it takes a while for it to come up once you get into the car. I guess I now need to find a replacement battery as the voltage is 11.8 when you shut the engine off and yesterday aft it was 11.6. It's a wonder that it starts at all.

Or get a trickle charger which might buy you another year before you have to buy a new battery.
